EDD keeps calling about unemployment even after updating to disability claim - help!
I'm still getting calls from unemployment even though I updated my claim to disability. Has anyone else experienced this? It's so frustrating trying to get the right department. I thought I had everything sorted out but now I'm not sure what's going on. Any advice on how to make sure I'm dealing with the correct department for my disability claim?

I found a way to solve EDD disability claim confusion, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP11KqoQm5g

Ugh, been there done that. The EDD system is a total mess. I had to call like 50 times before I got through to the right person. Have you tried calling the disability-specific number?

I thought I did, but maybe I messed up somewhere. Do you have the number handy?

Yeah, it's 1-800-480-3287 for state disability insurance (SDI). Good luck, hope you get it sorted!

Classic EDD, always keeping us on our toes 🙄 Have you tried logging into your online account and double-checking your claim status? Sometimes the system updates before they stop the calls.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? No way, that's a scam for sure.

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a glitch in their system and my claim wasn't properly transferred from unemployment to disability. I had to fax (yes, fax! in 2023! 🤦♂️) a written request to update my claim status. It's a pain, but it might be worth trying if nothing else works.

Omg, a fax? I don't even know where to find a fax machine these days. But thanks for the tip, I might have to hunt one down if this keeps up.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They often have liaisons who can help navigate EDD issues. It's like having a secret weapon against bureaucracy! 💪

This! 👆 My assemblyman's office saved my butt when I was stuck in EDD limbo for months. Definitely worth a shot.

Ok, let me break this down for you: 1. First, double-check your online account. Make sure your claim status actually shows as disability, not unemployment. 2. If it's correct online, call the SDI number (1-800-480-3287) and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait. 3. If you can't get through, try the trick of calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you'll have better luck. 4. Document everything. Every call, every letter, every online status change. This will help if you need to escalate. 5. If all else fails, contact your local assembly member or state senator. They can often cut through red tape. 6. As a last resort, you might consider filing a formal complaint. Sometimes that kicks things into gear. Remember, persistence is key with EDD. Don't give up! And if you're really stuck, that Claimyr service someone mentioned might be worth a shot. Good luck!

Have you checked if there's a separate disability office you need to contact? Sometimes unemployment and disability are handled by different departments even though they're both under EDD.

I'll look into that, thanks! The whole system is so confusing.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been on hold with EDD for so long I'm pretty sure I've memorized their entire hold music playlist. 🎵😫
