PFL Claim Call Tips: What to Ask & How to Prepare?

Hey everyone, I'm about to call about my paid family leave claim and I'm feeling a bit lost. What should I be asking the agent? Any tips on how to make the most of this call? I want to make sure I don't forget anything important.

When I called about my PFL claim, these were the key questions that helped me: 1. What specific steps do I need to take to complete my application? 2. How long does it usually take to process a claim? 3. Are there any additional documents I need to submit or verify? 4. What's the best way to follow up on my claim status? 5. Are there any common mistakes I should avoid? Hope this helps! Good luck with your call.

This is super helpful, thanks for sharing! I wish I had known to ask about common mistakes when I called. Might have saved me some headaches 😅

Great list! I'd add asking about any deadlines you need to be aware of. I almost missed an important one for my claim.

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed. I'll definitely use these questions during my call. 🙏

Ugh, good luck getting through to anyone. I've been trying for weeks and keep getting the runaround. The whole system is a joke tbh 🤡

I feel you. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our benefits 🙄

Have you tried calling right when they open? I had better luck getting through that way.

Yeah, I've tried everything. Early morning, late afternoon, even during lunch. No dice. It's like trying to win the lottery at this point 🎰

Hey guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😤

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time for the call or what?

You choose a time slot, and they call you when they get an agent. It's pretty straightforward. Beats sitting on hold for hours!

Make sure you have all your paperwork ready before the call! Nothing worse than scrambling for info while on the line with an agent. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt 🙃

Anyone know if theres a way to check the status of a claim online? Or do we HAVE to call everytime?

There's supposed to be an online portal, but half the time it doesn't work. Classic government efficiency 🙄

I've had some luck with the online system. It's not perfect, but it beats calling sometimes.

Pro tip: keep a log of every call you make. Note the date, time, and name of the person you spoke to. It's come in handy for me more than once when dealing with conflicting information.

This! 💯 I learned this the hard way. Now I have a whole spreadsheet dedicated to tracking my claim lol

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like they need a law degree to understand half the stuff they tell you on these calls? 🤔

Omg yes! I swear they speak in riddles sometimes. Like, can I get that in plain English please? 😂

Fr tho. I've started asking them to explain things "as if I'm five" and it actually helps lol

Dont forget to ask about partial claims if you're working reduced hours! I almost missed out on some benefits cause I didnt know that was a thing.
