Need help getting EDD claim update - Friday afternoon, should I wait till Monday?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get an update on my unemployment claim. I've been waiting for a while now and I'm getting worried. Has anyone had any luck getting through to EDD lately? It's Friday afternoon and I'm wondering if I should even bother trying today or just wait until Monday. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. EDD is a nightmare to deal with, especially on Fridays. In my experience, they usually stop taking calls pretty early on Fridays. You're probably better off waiting until Monday morning to try again. Set an alarm for like 7:55 AM and start calling right at 8. Good luck!

I actually found a method that works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Nah, you just put in the number you want them to call and pay. They do all the waiting and menu navigation, then connect you when there's a real person. No personal info needed beyond your phone number.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for the past few months: ā¢ Mondays and Tuesdays are usually the busiest days, but also when they have the most staff. ā¢ Try calling right when they open (8 AM) or during lunch hours (12-1 PM). ā¢ If you get through the menu but then get disconnected, keep trying. Sometimes it takes 10+ attempts. ā¢ Have all your info ready before you call (claim number, ID, etc.) ā¢ Be polite to the rep, even if you're frustrated. They're more likely to go the extra mile for you. ā¢ If one rep can't help, politely ask to speak with a tier 2 specialist. ā¢ Keep a log of who you talked to and what they said. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite things with EDD. Worth a shot if you're really stuck.
