How to check status of EDD paper application? Can't get through on phone

Hey everyone, I'm trying to check on the status of my paper application for unemployment benefits. Has anyone had any luck getting through to EDD to confirm if their application was received and approved? I've been trying to call but no luck so far. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve EDD unemployment application status issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aOvmku4Fm4

I tried that last week. The line was around the block and they closed before I could get in. Total waste of a day 😡

Pro tip: Use the online portal if you can. I know you submitted a paper application, but if you create an online account, sometimes you can see the status there. Might save you a phone call!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a try. Hopefully I can see something there

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but even when you get through, they might not be able to help. I finally got an agent after weeks of calling, and they told me they couldn't find my application in the system. Now I'm back to square one. This whole process is a joke 🤡

That sucks man. Did they at least give you any next steps or just leave you hanging?

They told me to reapply online. Like, why even accept paper applications if they're just gonna lose them? 🤦‍♂️

Classic government efficiency right there 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

Yeah, $20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Can you give us more details about how it worked for you?

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. You pay, they call and wait on hold (which took like 2 hours), then when an agent picked up, my phone rang. Saved me a ton of time and frustration

Man, the fact that we even need services like this shows how broken the system is 🤦‍♂️

Anyone else feel like we're all just stuck in some kind of unemployment limbo? It's like a bad dream that never ends 😴💤

Tell me about it. I've been trying to sort this out for months now. Starting to feel like a full-time job just dealing with EDD 😅

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually get our benefits or something. 🙄

Have you guys tried faxing? I heard that sometimes works better than calling

Faxing? What is this, 1995? 😂 But seriously, might give it a shot. Anything's better than this endless phone tag

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call right when they open at 8 AM 2. If you get the "too many callers" message, hang up and immediately redial 3. Keep doing this until you get into the queue 4. Once in the queue, be prepared to wait for 1-2 hours It's a pain, but I finally got through after a week of trying. Good luck!

Hey OP, just a heads up - when you do get through, make sure you have all your info ready. They'll ask for your SSN, the last employer you worked for, and the dates you worked there. Also, if you have your application confirmation number, that's super helpful. Good luck!
