How to confirm if EDD claim is still active? Impossible to reach them!
Hey everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to confirm if my unemployment claim is still active? I've been trying to reach EDD but it's been impossible to get through. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

I was in the same boat last month. It's so frustrating trying to get through to them! Have you tried checking your online account? Sometimes the status is updated there.

Yeah, I've checked online but it doesn't show much info. Just says 'pending' which could mean anything 🙄

Pending usually means they're still processing it. But who knows how long that'll take with EDD 🤷♂️

Ugh, that sucks. EDD really needs to get their act together. Hang in there, OP!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I mean EXACTLY when they open. Set an alarm and everything. It's the only way I've ever gotten through.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to EDD? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😡

I know it sounds crazy, but it seriously saved me weeks of frustration. Worth every penny imho

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they garuantee you'll get through?

Yeah, so basically you choose the EDD line you want to call, pay the fee, and they start calling for you. When they get a real person, your phone rings and you're connected. They don't guarantee it'll work every time, but they keep trying until it does.

Have you tried sending them a message through the online portal? Sometimes they respond faster that way than by phone.

I'll give that a shot, thanks for the suggestion!

Hang in there, guys. It sucks but eventually they do sort it out. Took me 3 months but I finally got my benefits.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for the past year: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it seems hopeless. 2. Use the online portal to send messages and check for updates regularly. 3. If possible, visit an EDD office in person. Sometimes face-to-face interactions can speed things up. 4. Keep detailed records of all your communications with EDD. 5. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 6. Join Facebook groups or forums dedicated to EDD issues. Sometimes other claimants have insider tips. 7. Be prepared with all your documents and claim information when you do get through. Remember, the system is overwhelmed, but don't give up. Your claim is important and you deserve your benefits. Good luck!

Great tips! I'd add: learn the phone menu by heart so you can quickly navigate it when you call.
