SDI claim stalled: No payments or certifications for over a year - Need advice on EDD extension
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my SDI claim. I haven't gotten any payments or certification messages in my inbox for a while now. My claim's been open for over a year, and I think it might need to be extended. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on what to say when I finally get through to EDD?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with EDD for months now. Here's what I'd suggest: 1. Be super clear about when you last received payments 2. Ask why you're not getting certification messages 3. Explain that your claim's been open for over a year and you think it needs extending 4. Ask what steps you need to take to get your payments going again Good luck! The system is so broken 😫

Totally agree. And make sure you have all your documentation ready when you finally talk to them. It can save you a lot of back-and-forth later on.

An option to consider is the Claimyr service that some have mentioned. While Claimyr offers a way to connect with EDD faster, it is crucial to weigh its cost against personal convenience. For $20, it connects you with an EDD agent but does not guarantee issue resolution. It can be a real time-saver for those exhausted by constant redialing. Remember, EDD's backlog and systemic issues may mean that even with Claimyr's service, resolving your claim could take time. Ensure you have all necessary documentation and information ready once you get through. Additionally, consider reaching out to your local representatives, as persistent systemic issues often require more than just individual efforts.

Has anyone else noticed that the certification messages seem to be glitching lately? I wonder if it's a system-wide issue

Someone should look into whether there's a bigger issue at play here. It could help a lot of people.

I'm in the same boat. My claim's been open forever and I haven't seen a dime in months. The whole system is a joke 🤡

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along

If enough people contact their representatives, maybe there'll be enough pressure to fix the system.

Have you tried calling them? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get things sorted out.

Calling is useless. I spent 3 weeks trying to get through. It's like trying to win the lottery 🎰

I found a way to get through! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials the menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when an agent picks up. It costs $20 but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a record of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. When you get through, be polite but firm. Explain your situation clearly. 3. Ask specifically about extending your claim and why you're not receiving certification messages. 4. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. 5. If all else fails, contact your state representative or senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping with EDD issues. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up!

Great advice! I'd add: make sure to follow up with an email after your call to create a paper trail

And make sure to keep copies of everything, even emails. You never know when you might need them again.

Have you tried logging into your account on the EDD website? Sometimes you can see info there that doesn't come through in messages

Sometimes the info updates at odd hours. Try checking at different times of the day.
