EDD return to work process - how long and any tips to speed it up?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to return to work after being on unemployment. I contacted EDD about this but I'm still waiting to hear back. Has anyone else gone through this process? How long did it take for you to get a response? Any tips on speeding things up would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I went through this a few months ago and it was a nightmare. Took me almost 6 weeks to get everything sorted out. My advice? Keep calling them every day. It's annoying but it's the only way to get anything done with EDD.

6 weeks?! That's insane. The system is so broken 😤

Calling everyday is good advice. I did the same thing and it helped speed up the process for me.

Yeah, it was brutal. But persistence pays off. Just gotta keep at it!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Have you tried going to your local EDD office in person? Sometimes face-to-face interactions can speed things up.

Make sure you've updated your UI Online account with your return-to-work info. Sometimes they process things faster if it's all in the system already.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Update your UI Online account with all return-to-work info 2. Send a message through the UI Online portal explaining your situation 3. Call the EDD hotline as soon as they open (8am) 4. If you can't get through, try the trick of calling right before they close 5. Be persistent and call every day if needed 6. Keep detailed records of all your attempts to contact them 7. If all else fails, reach out to your local assembly member or state senator It took me about 3 weeks, but I finally got everything sorted. Don't give up!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try all of these steps. Fingers crossed it won't take 3 weeks, but at least I have a game plan now.

Anyone else notice that EDD seems to respond faster if you mention potential overpayments? Not saying to lie, but if there's any chance you might have been overpaid, bringing it up might get their attention faster.

Yooo that's smart. They always seem to care more about getting $ back than giving it out 🙄
