EDD payment delay: No payment for 3+ weeks after doc submitted supplemental cert. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I haven't gotten my unemployment payment in over three weeks now. I made sure my doctor sent in the supplemental certification on December 3rd, but I haven't heard anything back. I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? I'm not sure if I should be doing something else or just wait it out. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is such a mess rn. Have you tried logging into your online account to see if there's any updates? Sometimes they don't notify you about stuff.

Yeah, I checked my online account but there's nothing new there. It's so frustrating!

Classic EDD move. They're probably drowning in paperwork and your doc's cert is sitting in a pile somewhere 🙄

Oof, that sucks. Maybe try giving them a call? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

Three weeks is way too long! You need to get on the phone with them ASAP. I found a way to actually get through to a real person. There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when an agent picks up. It costs $20 but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to make a phone call? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😤

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Spent weeks trying to get through on my own and this solved it in one day. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

I've used it too. Expensive but worth it when you're desperate. Just wish we didn't have to resort to this kinda thing.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check that your doctor actually sent the certification. Sometimes they say they did but didn't. 2. Call EDD first thing in the morning, right when they open. That's your best shot at getting through. 3. If you can't get through, try the online contact form. Be super detailed about your situation. 4. Keep certifying for benefits even if you're not getting paid. This keeps your claim active. 5. Check your spam folder for any EDD emails you might have missed. 6. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things through. Hang in there! The system is slow but it usually works out eventually.

have you tried faxing the certification? sometimes that works better than waiting for the doc to send it in. just a thought 🤷♂️

Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But seriously, I didn't even think of that. Might give it a shot if nothing else works.

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a glitch in their system and my account got flagged for no reason. Took forever to sort out. Keep pushing them!

Preach! 🙌 Sometimes I think they're hoping we'll all just get frustrated and stop claiming.

C'mon, that's a bit conspiracy theory-ish. They're just understaffed and overwhelmed.

Quick question - did you get any kind of confirmation number when your doc submitted the cert? Might be helpful to have that when you call.

Good point! I'll check with my doctor's office and see if they have any kind of receipt or confirmation.
