EDD SDI maternity claim stuck 'pending processing' - need urgent help before due date
Has anyone else been stuck in EDD limbo for their maternity leave disability paperwork? I submitted everything for my claim weeks ago, but it's still 'pending processing'. I'm getting worried because my due date is coming up fast. I really need to speak with someone to make sure they have all my documents and to find out what's causing the hold-up. Any advice on how to get through to a real person? I'm losing sleep over this!

Tell me about it. It's like trying to navigate a maze blindfolded.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes that gets faster results than online submissions.

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But seriously, I'll try anything at this point. Do you know if there's a specific fax number for maternity claims?

LOL I know right? But hey, if it works, it works! The fax number for SDI claims is 1-855-342-6635. Just make sure to include a cover sheet with your name, SSN, and claim ID.

Adding a cover sheet is crucial. It helps ensure your documents are routed correctly.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should just accept that the system is broken and stop expecting it to work? 🤷♂️

Bruh, that's some defeatist bs right there. We pay into this system, we deserve better!

Hey, I'm just being realistic. The government has never been efficient. Why expect that to change now?

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that. I've even set alarms for 7:55 am to start dialing at 8 sharp. No luck so far 😞

Hey OP, hang in there! I know it's stressful, but try to focus on taking care of yourself and your baby. The money will come eventually. Sending positive vibes your way! ❤️

Thank you so much! It's hard not to stress, but you're right. I need to focus on staying healthy for the little one.

Remember to take some time for yourself each day. A little self-care goes a long way during pregnancy.

Anyone else feel like we need a complete overhaul of the EDD system? It's clearly not equipped to handle the volume of claims they're getting.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. 36 weeks pregnant and still no word on my claim. It's so stressful! Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up.

That's a great idea! I didn't even think of that. Do you know how to find out who my assembly member is?

Just google '[your city] assembly member' and it should pop up. Good luck, mama! We're all in this together 💪

You can also look up your state representative by visiting the state assembly's website. They usually have a 'Find Your Representative' tool.

Has anyone tried tweeting at the EDD? Sometimes public shaming works wonders 😈

I tried that once. They just replied with a generic 'please contact us through official channels' message. Worth a shot tho!

Pro tip: if you do manage to get through to someone, ask for their direct extension or employee ID. Makes it easier to follow up if you need to call back.

And always write down the date and time of your call. It helps if you need to reference it later.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for maternity leave: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Keep copies of all forms, note down submission dates, and get confirmation numbers whenever possible. 2. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. 3. Know your rights. Familiarize yourself with California's Paid Family Leave and State Disability Insurance programs. 4. Reach out to your doctor's office. Sometimes they can help push things through on their end. 5. Consider contacting your local assemblymember or state senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with state agency issues. 6. Join Facebook groups for California moms. There's a wealth of knowledge and support there. 7. If all else fails, file a complaint with the EDD. It might light a fire under them. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed right now, but keep pushing. You've got this, mama! 💪👶

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'm definitely going to try reaching out to my assembly member. Do you know if there's a specific form I need to fill out for the EDD complaint?

You're welcome! For the complaint, you can use the 'Contact EDD' form on their website. Choose 'Filed a claim' as the category, then 'I have a question about my claim' as the subcategory. Explain your situation clearly and ask for a callback. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

I feel ya, OP. The EDD system is a total nightmare rn. I've been waiting on my unemployment claim for 2 months now. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to get help 🤬

I tried last week. Waited in line for 3 hours only to be told they can't help with disability claims in person. Total waste of time 😤
