EDD Appeal Filed a Month Ago - No Response Yet. Normal?
Hey everyone, I filed an appeal with EDD about a month ago and I haven't heard anything back yet. I'm getting worried because I haven't received any letters or notifications. Has anyone else experienced this? How long does it usually take to hear back about an appeal? I'm not sure if I should be doing something else or just keep waiting.

Ugh, welcome to EDD hell. I've been there and it suuucks. A month isn't too unusual tho. Mine took like 6 weeks before I got any update. Hang in there!

•6 weeks?! 😱 That's so long. Did you do anything special to speed it up or just wait it out?

•Nah, just waited. Tried calling but you know how that goes 🙄 Felt like I was screaming into the void

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. How does it work exactly? Is it legit?

•Totally get the skepticism, but it's legit. They basically have a system that calls EDD and navigates the menu for you. When an agent picks up, it connects to your phone. Saved me hours of hold time.

•$20 to actually talk to someone? might be worth it tbh. edd's phone system is a joke 🤡

•Yeah, I was hesitant at first but it was worth every penny. Got my issue resolved in one call!

Here's what you need to know about EDD appeals: 1. Processing time: Usually takes 30-60 days, but can be longer. 2. No news is... well, no news. They often don't send updates. 3. You can check your appeal status online through your EDD account. 4. If it's been over 60 days, try contacting your local assemblyperson. They can sometimes help speed things up. 5. Make sure EDD has your current address. Sometimes mail gets lost. 6. Keep all your documents ready in case they request more info. Hope this helps! Hang in there, the system is slow but it (usually) works eventually.

•Thank you so much! This is really helpful. I'll check my online account and maybe reach out to my assemblyperson if I don't hear anything soon.

•Great advice! I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Every call, letter, conversation. It might come in handy later.

Oof, appeals are the worst. I had to appeal twice last year. First one took 2 months, second one almost 4. EDD is seriously understaffed and overworked. Not an excuse, but explains the delays. Keep pushing!

•Wow, that's a long time! Did you end up getting it resolved in your favor?

•Yeah, eventually. It was a nightmare tho. Had to provide so much extra documentation. Make sure u keep EVERYTHING

Pro tip: If you can, try to get to an actual EDD office in person. Sometimes face-to-face interactions can speed things up. Just be prepared for a looong wait.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure your UI Online account is up to date with your current contact info.

I'm in the same boat, filed an appeal 5 weeks ago. This waiting game is killing me. Anyone know if there's a way to expedite the process?

•Not really, unless you have a dire financial emergency. Even then, it's hit or miss. The system is just slow af
