CalWORKs worker wants to 'review transactions' - could my benefits be at risk?

Just got a voicemail from my CalWORKs caseworker saying she 'needs to review some of my transactions' and I should call her back ASAP. Anyone know what this is about? I'm freaking out. I got a part-time job 2 months ago and reported it on my SAR7, and my benefits were adjusted down. Could this be about that? Or is it about my EBT purchases? I bought a birthday cake for my kid last month - is that not allowed? I've never had a worker call specifically about 'transactions' before. Has anyone else dealt with this? Really worried they're going to discontinue my Cash Aid right when rent is due.

Deep breath! This happens sometimes. My worker called me about transactions too and it turned out they just needed to verify some income I reported on my SAR7. Do u remember if u included all ur paystubs with the SAR7? They might just need more info about ur job since its new.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I don't think I went over the IRT but maybe the overtime pushed me close? They adjusted my benefits down after I reported my job, so I thought everything was fine. Really hoping this is just routine.

they do this to EVERYBODY trust me. its a scare tactic to make u call them back fast lol. half the time they just want to ask u about something simple but they make it sound all scary. my worker did the same thing and all she wanted was to tell me to resubmit a form that didnt go thru right on benefitscal. classic county bs!!!

No, my benefits stayed the same since my income was already correctly calculated. They just needed to verify everything. The whole review took about 10 minutes once I actually got through to someone. Good luck!

OMG they did this to me last year and it was TERRIFYING!!! I thought I was going to jail or something lol. Turns out they just needed to verify a deposit in my bank account that looked like income but was actually my sister paying me back for spotting her rent money. i had worker call me about transactions turned out i got reported for welfare fraud by my STUPID EX who told them i had a secret job i didnt report!!!!!! it was totally FALSE but i had to do a whole fraud interview with an investigator and everything!!! make sure u call back asap and have all ur paperwork ready cuz these people will assume the worst if u dont defend urself right away!!!!

took like 3 months total but the actual interview was only like 45 min. they made me bring in all kinds of proof like bank statements for 6 months and every single paystub. such bs. they finally closed the case when they realized my ex was lying but those were the worst 3 months ever!!!!

Update: I was finally able to reach my worker! Turns out they just needed to verify a deposit in my account from my mom (birthday gift money for my daughter) and make sure I still meet the resource limit. The worker was actually super nice and it took like 5 minutes to clear up. Thanks everyone for the advice and calming me down! My benefits are safe.

I tried the regular line for about 45 minutes and kept getting disconnected. Finally used that Claimyr service you recommended and got through to someone in about 15 minutes. Definitely worth it to avoid the stress of waiting on hold all day!
