Fastest way to submit CalFresh documents in Fresno County - which app/website works best?
Hey everyone! I'm getting so frustrated with CalFresh in Fresno County. I sent my verification docs by mail TWICE last month and somehow they never received them??? Now I'm at risk of losing benefits completely. My worker keeps saying they need my paystubs and lease agreement urgently. I'm tired of the mail system failing me. What website or app do Fresno County CalFresh recipients use to upload documents directly? I need something reliable where I can get confirmation they actually received it. Any help would be super appreciated!

BenefitsCal.com is your best bet for Fresno County CalFresh document uploads. It replaced the old C4Yourself system and lets you directly upload photos or scans of your verification documents. You'll get a confirmation number after each upload, which is really important to write down as proof. Much more reliable than mailing documents that can get lost in the system. Just make sure your files aren't too large or they might not upload properly.

•Thank you! I think I made an account on BenefitsCal a while back but forgot about it. Do you know if they'll notify my worker automatically when I upload, or should I call them too? I'm just nervous about hitting my deadline.

fresno uses benefitscal now but their app SUCKS half the time. the phone app just crashes when i try 2 upload pics of my paystubs. better to use the actual website on a computer if u can. or the fresno dss office has those scanning machines in the lobby u can use for free without waiting 2 see anyone

•The scanning kiosks at Fresno DSS saved me so much time! You don't need an appointment and they give you a receipt right there. Just bring your case number.

In Fresno County, you have several options for submitting CalFresh verification documents: 1. BenefitsCal.com (website or mobile app) 2. MyBenefitsCalWIN app (some counties) 3. Self-service scanning kiosks at the Fresno County DSS office 4. Email to your specific district office (ask your worker for the address) 5. Fax (though I don't recommend this option in 2025!) The most reliable is BenefitsCal because it's directly connected to their system. Always take screenshots of your confirmation page after uploading! If you're close to your deadline and worried, you can also drop documents off in person at the office and get a date-stamped receipt.

•Can I just say how INFURIATING it is that there are 5 different systems?? Why can't they just have ONE working system that actually functions properly?? My documents disappeared into the void THREE TIMES and then they had the nerve to send me a discontinuance notice for "failure to provide verification" when I had upload confirmations! The whole system is designed to make people give up on getting help!!!

Had the same issue with Fresno County last year. I tried the BenefitsCal app, but kept getting upload errors. What finally worked was using Claimyr to get through to an actual person at the Fresno office. I was able to verify they received my documents and they even helped me submit the remaining ones over the phone. Saved me from losing benefits when I was approaching my deadline. The video demo at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 shows how it works - basically gets you past the hold times so you can talk to a real worker. I was connected in about 10 minutes when I had been trying for days on my own.

•Thanks for this suggestion! I actually tried calling the Fresno office this morning and got disconnected twice after waiting 45+ minutes. I'll check out that website - getting through to a real person would be so helpful right now. I just want to make sure they got my documents before my benefits get cut off.

One more important tip - whenever you upload documents to BenefitsCal, immediately go to your "Documents" tab to verify they actually uploaded correctly. Sometimes the upload seems successful but the file doesn't actually save in their system. I always take screenshots of that Documents page showing my uploaded files as extra proof. And if your verification deadline is within 3 days, I'd call your worker directly to confirm receipt rather than just trusting the system.

When I had trouble with BenefitsCal, I went to the Fresno County DSS office on E. California Avenue and used their self-service kiosk to scan my documents. Got a receipt right there and my worker had everything in their system the next day. No appointment needed for just dropping off docs!

UPDATE: I just wanted to let everyone know what worked. I tried BenefitsCal first but kept getting an error about file size when uploading my phone pics. Ended up using Claimyr to get through to a worker (took about 12 mins vs the 2+ hours I was on hold before). The worker actually gave me her direct email and I sent the documents right to her! She confirmed receipt while I was on the phone and said my benefits would continue without interruption. SUCH a relief! Thanks everyone for your help!

•That's great news! Just a tip for future reference - if you're taking photos of documents with your phone, there's usually a setting to reduce image quality/size before uploading to BenefitsCal. Most verification documents don't need to be high-resolution photos. But glad you got it resolved directly with your worker!

So glad you got it sorted out! For anyone else reading this thread, another tip is to always compress your photos before uploading to BenefitsCal. I use the built-in compression feature on my phone's camera app or free apps like Photo Compress to reduce file sizes. The system seems to have issues with files over 5MB. Also, make sure your documents are well-lit and text is clearly readable - blurry uploads get rejected and you'll have to start over. Keep that worker's direct email handy for future submissions too!

•This is such helpful advice! I'm new to CalFresh and honestly had no idea about file compression - I was just taking regular photos with my phone. Do you know if there's a specific file format that works best with BenefitsCal? I want to make sure I get everything right the first time since I've been reading horror stories about documents getting lost in the system. Also wondering if PDF scans work better than photo uploads?
