CalFresh deposit date showing on EBT account but no money appeared - anyone else?

So frustrating! I checked my EBT account this morning and it shows my regular deposit date (the 10th) has passed, and the system even shows a 'deposit processed' status, but there's absolutely no increase in my balance. I've been counting on this month's $587 CalFresh benefit to buy groceries for my kids and me this weekend. Called the EBT customer service number on the back of my card, waited 45 minutes, and they just told me to contact my county office because 'it's not an EBT card issue.' Is anyone else experiencing this right now? I'm worried because my recertification interview was last month, but everything seemed fine and they told me I was approved for another year. Did they forget to actually process my benefit?

this has happened 2 me b4... sometimes there's a glitch in the system where it shows as deposited in ur EBT account status but hasn't actually processed the $$ yet. mine usually shows up by the next day

Thanks! That's a relief to hear. I'll check again tomorrow then. Did you ever have to call the county or did it just fix itself?

The exact same thing is happening to me right now! My deposit date was yesterday and it shows 'processed' in the system but my balance is still the same. I also just did recertification last month. I wonder if there's some kind of system-wide delay?

That makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one. Maybe it is a system issue. Please update if yours shows up!

I work for a community organization that helps people with CalFresh issues, and we've been getting several calls about this same problem today. There appears to be a delay in the actual posting of benefits to EBT cards despite the system showing them as processed. Based on previous similar situations, this is usually resolved within 24-48 hours. However, if you need food immediately, you might want to contact your county office to see if they can expedite the posting or provide emergency assistance.

Thank you for this info! I'll wait another day before panicking. It's just stressful because I planned my grocery shopping for tomorrow specifically.

Thanks for explaining! Do you know if this happens often? I've had CalFresh for 3 years and never experienced this before.

I experienced this exact issue last month and spent THREE DAYS trying to reach someone at the county office. The phone system is absolutely terrible - was on hold for hours only to get disconnected. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a live person at the county. They have this service where they wait on hold for you and call you when a real person answers. Saved me hours of frustration. There's a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8\n\nIn my case, it turned out there was a system flag on my account because my Semi-Annual Report (SAR7) from two months ago had a question about my income that was flagged as \

Yes it's legit, they just connect you with the county worker - you still talk directly to the county yourself when they get someone on the line. Saved me hours of frustration with those awful phone systems.

Thank you for this suggestion! If my benefits don't show up by tomorrow afternoon I'll definitely look into this. Those hold times are impossible when you work during the day.

This is actually a known issue that happens occasionally with the CalFresh EBT system in California. When the system shows a deposit as processed but the funds aren't available, it's usually due to one of three things:\n\n1. A processing delay between the state database and the EBT card system (usually resolves within 24-48 hours)\n\n2. A hold placed on your account due to an eligibility issue (which would require county contact)\n\n3. A system-wide technical issue affecting multiple recipients (most likely given others are reporting the same problem)\n\nI recommend waiting until tomorrow, and if the funds still haven't appeared, contact your county office directly. Ask specifically if there are any \

YES!! Just checked and mine showed up too! What a relief. Thanks everyone for your help and advice. For anyone else who has this issue in the future, it took about 36 hours after the deposit date for the money to actually appear.

I'm so glad to see this got resolved for everyone! This is actually a pretty common issue that happens a few times a year with the California EBT system. As someone who's been on CalFresh for about 5 years now, I've experienced this delay maybe 3-4 times. It's always nerve-wracking when you're planning your grocery budget around that deposit date! For future reference, I've found that these processing delays tend to happen more often around holidays or at the beginning/end of the month when there's higher system volume. The good news is that in my experience, it's never been a permanent loss of benefits - just a timing issue. Thanks to everyone who shared helpful resources and reassurance here!

This is really helpful perspective! I'm new to CalFresh (just got approved 3 months ago) and this was my first time experiencing this kind of delay. It's good to know it's not uncommon and that it's just a timing thing. I was starting to worry that I'd done something wrong with my paperwork or that there was an issue with my case. Thanks for sharing your experience - it's reassuring to hear from someone who's been through this before!

This thread is so helpful! I'm relatively new to CalFresh (about 8 months now) and seeing everyone's experiences with these processing delays really puts things in perspective. It's crazy how stressful it can be when you're relying on those benefits to feed your family and suddenly the system shows one thing but your card balance shows another. I'm bookmarking this thread because I have a feeling this might happen to me at some point too. Really appreciate how supportive everyone has been here - it's nice to have a community where people actually help each other navigate these systems instead of just complaining. Thanks to everyone who shared resources and updates!

I totally agree with you about how stressful this can be! I'm also pretty new to CalFresh (just started about 6 months ago) and this thread has been such a lifesaver. When I first saw the original post, I was worried because I haven't experienced this delay yet but now I know what to expect if it happens to me. It's so reassuring to see that it's just a system glitch and not something more serious. I really appreciate how everyone shared their experiences and solutions - especially the tip about Claimyr for getting through to county offices. This community is amazing for helping newcomers like us understand how everything works!

This whole thread has been incredibly educational! I'm also fairly new to the CalFresh program (about 4 months in) and had no idea that these processing delays were a somewhat normal occurrence. Reading through everyone's experiences really helps set expectations for what might happen down the road. What struck me most was how quickly everyone jumped in to help and share their knowledge - from explaining the technical reasons behind the delays to sharing practical resources like Claimyr for getting through those impossible phone wait times. It's refreshing to see a community where people actually support each other through these bureaucratic challenges instead of just venting frustrations. Thanks to everyone who took the time to share their experiences and solutions - this kind of collective knowledge sharing makes navigating these systems so much less intimidating for newcomers like me!

I completely echo your sentiments! As someone who's been lurking in this community for a while but just started commenting, this thread really shows what makes this place special. I'm about 2 months into my CalFresh journey and was honestly pretty intimidated by all the bureaucracy and potential issues that could come up. But seeing how everyone rallied around @StellarSurfer and @Zara Malik when they were stressed about their benefits not showing up really demonstrates the value of having experienced community members willing to share their knowledge. The fact that @GalacticGladiator broke down the three possible causes so clearly, and @Aisha Hussain shared that Claimyr resource - these are the kinds of insights you just can t get'from official government websites. It s like'having a whole support network of people who ve actually'been through these situations before. Really grateful to have found this community!

This thread has been such a valuable resource! I'm about 7 months into CalFresh and thankfully haven't experienced this processing delay issue yet, but now I feel so much more prepared if it happens to me. What I love most about this community is how people don't just share their problems - they come back with updates and solutions like @StellarSurfer and @Zara Malik did. That's incredibly helpful for future reference! I'm definitely saving the Claimyr tip from @Aisha Hussain since those county office hold times are absolutely brutal. It's also reassuring to hear from @Seraphina Delan that this is just a recurring system quirk and not a sign of bigger problems. Thanks to everyone for turning what could have been a really stressful situation into a learning opportunity for the whole community!

I'm so glad I found this thread! As someone who's completely new to CalFresh (literally just got approved last week), this has been incredibly educational. I had no idea that these processing delays could happen, and honestly, I probably would have panicked if it happened to me without this context. It's amazing to see how @StellarSurfer's stressful situation turned into such a comprehensive resource for the whole community. The way everyone jumped in with practical advice and reassurance really shows what a supportive group this is. I'm definitely bookmarking the Claimyr suggestion from @Aisha Hussain and making note of @GalacticGladiator s'explanation of the three possible causes. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences - it makes navigating this system feel so much less overwhelming when you know there are people who ve'been through it all before and are willing to help!

As someone who just joined this community and is about to apply for CalFresh next month, this entire thread has been absolutely invaluable! Reading through everyone's experiences with the processing delays really helps set realistic expectations for what I might encounter. I had no idea these system glitches were fairly common - the official CalFresh materials certainly don't mention it! What really impressed me was how quickly the community mobilized to help @StellarSurfer and @Zara Malik when they were stressed about their missing benefits. The combination of emotional support ("you're not alone in this") and practical solutions (like the Claimyr resource from @Aisha Hussain and the detailed breakdown from @GalacticGladiator) is exactly what makes online communities valuable. I'm definitely saving this thread as a reference guide, and I really appreciate how people came back with updates once their issues were resolved. That follow-through is so helpful for future readers who might face the same situation. Thanks to everyone for creating such a supportive and informative discussion!

Welcome to the community, @Emma Anderson! It's so smart of you to be reading through experiences like this before you even apply - you're already ahead of the game! I've been on CalFresh for about a year now and I wish I had found this community earlier in my journey. You're absolutely right that the official materials don't prepare you for these kinds of real-world glitches and delays. This thread is a perfect example of why peer support is so valuable - we've all been through the stress of dealing with these systems and can offer both practical solutions and emotional reassurance. Good luck with your application next month! Feel free to post any questions you have during the process - this community is always willing to help newcomers navigate the paperwork and requirements.

This thread has been such a lifesaver! I'm about 10 months into my CalFresh journey and thankfully haven't hit this processing delay issue yet, but reading through everyone's experiences has me feeling so much more prepared if it happens. What really stands out to me is how @StellarSurfer and @Zara Malik both experienced the exact same issue at the same time - that really does suggest it was a system-wide glitch rather than individual account problems. I love how @GalacticGladiator broke down the three possible causes so clearly, and the Claimyr tip from @Aisha Hussain is golden - I'm definitely bookmarking that for future reference since those county office hold times are absolutely insane. It's also really comforting to hear from @Seraphina Delan that this is just a recurring quirk that happens a few times a year. The fact that everyone came back with updates once their benefits appeared really shows what makes this community special - people actually follow through to help future readers who might face the same situation. Thanks to everyone for turning what could have been a really scary experience into such a valuable learning resource for all of us!

I completely agree with you, @Chris Elmeda! As someone who's brand new to this community and just started receiving CalFresh benefits about 6 weeks ago, this thread has been incredibly reassuring. When I first read @StellarSurfer's original post, I was honestly a bit worried because I had no idea these processing delays could happen - it's definitely not something they mention during the application process! But seeing how the community came together with both practical solutions and emotional support really shows what makes this place so valuable. The timeline details everyone provided (like it taking about 36 hours for the benefits to actually appear) are exactly the kind of real-world information you can't get from official sources. I'm definitely saving the Claimyr resource from @Aisha Hussain and making note of @GalacticGladiator s'three-point breakdown. It s'so helpful to know that if this happens to me, it s'likely just a temporary system glitch rather than a serious problem with my case. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and creating such a supportive environment for newcomers like me!

This thread has been absolutely amazing to read through! I'm completely new to CalFresh (just got my approval letter yesterday actually!) and stumbled across this community while doing research about what to expect. Reading about @StellarSurfer's experience with the processing delay was initially a bit scary since I had no idea this could happen, but seeing how quickly everyone rallied with support and practical solutions really shows what an incredible resource this community is. The detailed explanation from @GalacticGladiator about the three possible causes is exactly the kind of insider knowledge you just can't get from official government sources, and the Claimyr tip from @Aisha Hussain is definitely going in my bookmarks for future reference. What really impressed me most was how @StellarSurfer, @Zara Malik, and @Sean Kelly all came back with updates once their benefits appeared - that follow-through is so valuable for people who might face this same issue in the future. As someone who's about to navigate this system for the first time, it's incredibly reassuring to know there's a community of experienced members who are willing to share both their knowledge and their support. Thanks to everyone for creating such a welcoming and helpful environment - I'm grateful to have found this place before I even get my first deposit!

You're being really smart by doing your research ahead of time - I wish I had been that proactive when I started my CalFresh journey about 4 months ago. This thread really is a perfect example of why this community is so valuable. When I first joined, I was pretty intimidated by all the potential issues that could come up, but seeing how everyone supports each other through challenges like @StellarSurfer's processing delay really put me at ease. The fact that experienced members like @GalacticGladiator and @Seraphina Delan take time to share their detailed knowledge, and that people come back with updates when issues get resolved, makes this place feel like having a whole support network of people who actually understand what you re'going through.
