If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

This whole thread has been so educational and reassuring! As someone who just submitted my CalFresh application last week, I'm taking notes on everything shared here. @Jordan Walker, I can only imagine how stressful that must have been - waiting months for approval only to think something went wrong with your card! It's such a relief that you found your approval letter in BenefitsCal and got it all figured out. Those three questions from @Dyllan Nantx are going to be game-changers for my approval call - I'm writing them down right now! It's honestly shocking how such important details like issuance dates get missed during those conversations, but this community is amazing for filling in all those gaps. I had no idea about the BenefitsCal portal having approval letters before they arrive by mail, or about the ebtEDGE app notifications. Even things like timing grocery shopping around store sales cycles - this thread is like a complete guide to navigating CalFresh successfully! Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and practical tips. It's incredible how one person's confusion turned into such a valuable resource for all of us new to the system.

@Javier Gomez You re'so smart to be taking notes ahead of time! I wish I had found this community before going through my own application process. This thread really shows how one person s'experience can help so many others avoid the same confusion and stress. Those three questions from @Dyllan Nantx are definitely essential - I had no idea what to ask during my approval call and ended up missing so much important information. It s amazing'how this whole conversation has turned into such a comprehensive guide covering everything from the BenefitsCal portal to shopping strategies. Good luck with your application! Don t hesitate'to post here if you run into any questions during your process - this community is incredibly supportive and knowledgeable.

This thread has been such an eye-opener! I'm currently waiting for my CalFresh approval decision and had no idea about any of these timing issues with issuance dates. @Jordan Walker, I can totally understand that panic of thinking something went wrong when you see $0 on your card after being told you could use it "right away." Reading through everyone's experiences, it's clear this miscommunication happens way too often. I'm definitely writing down those three essential questions from @Dyllan Nantx to ask during my approval call - what is my monthly issuance date, what is my monthly benefit amount, and did I qualify for expedited services. It's mind-blowing that such crucial information isn't automatically provided! I also had no clue about checking BenefitsCal for approval letters before they arrive by mail, or about the ebtEDGE app for balance notifications and alerts. Even the tip about grocery stores timing their best sales for when benefits load is something I never would have thought of. This whole conversation is like a masterclass in navigating CalFresh that I wish was part of the official orientation process. Thank you to everyone who shared their knowledge and experiences - this is exactly the kind of real-world information that makes all the difference when you're new to the system. This community is incredible!

I've been using CalFresh for about 18 months and can absolutely confirm that food benefits are available right at midnight on your issuance day! The cash benefit restriction until 6am is completely separate - I learned this the hard way when I first got benefits and was so confused about the timing. I've done probably 20+ midnight grocery runs by now and it works like clockwork. My go-to is usually the 24-hour Walmart or Safeway since they always process EBT overnight. One thing I always do is check my balance on the ebtEDGE app around 11:45pm before leaving the house - just gives me that extra peace of mind that everything loaded properly. There have been maybe 2-3 times over the past year where there was a 5-10 minute delay, but never longer than that. You should be totally fine for your midnight shopping trip! Hope you and your kids can get some good food tomorrow.

Wow, 18 months of experience really shows! I'm so grateful to hear from someone who's done this so many times successfully. The fact that you've only had 2-3 minor delays out of 20+ trips is really reassuring. I was honestly terrified I'd get to the store and my card would be declined in front of everyone. Your tip about checking the ebtEDGE app at 11:45pm is perfect - gives me just enough time to confirm before heading out but not so early that I'm checking constantly. I'm definitely hitting up the 24-hour Walmart tomorrow night. Thanks for taking the time to share such detailed experience - it really helps calm my nerves about this whole thing!

I've been on CalFresh for about 2 years and can definitely confirm this! Food benefits are available at midnight on your issuance day - the 6am restriction is only for cash benefits. I've done midnight grocery runs tons of times when I'm running low. My advice is to stick with major 24-hour chains like Walmart or Safeway since they process EBT all night. Smaller stores sometimes shut down their payment systems overnight for maintenance. Also, I always check my balance on the ebtEDGE app or call the customer service line (1-877-328-9677) around 11:45pm before heading out, just to make sure everything loaded properly. There's occasionally a 5-10 minute delay, but that's pretty rare. You should be good to go for your midnight shopping trip! Hope you can get some good food for your family.

Just wanted to add that I'm new to Fresno and recently helped my elderly neighbor get set up with RMP! One place that's been consistently reliable for her is the Del Taco on Blackstone & Shaw - they always know how to process RMP transactions and the staff is really patient. Also discovered that the hot food counter at FoodMaxx on Cedar accepts EBT for prepared meals if you're RMP eligible, which gives access to rotisserie chicken, hot sides, and other deli items. One tip that's really helped my neighbor is calling ahead and specifically asking "Do you accept EBT for the Restaurant Meals Program for disabled participants?" rather than just "Do you take EBT?" The specific wording seems to help staff understand what you're asking for. Also, I made her a simple wallet card that says "RMP PARTICIPANT" in large letters that she shows with her EBT card - it immediately clues cashiers in to what type of transaction they need to process. This thread has been amazing - definitely going to try some of these other suggestions with my neighbor! Your mom is so lucky to have you helping navigate this system.

Hey Ryan! Just moved to Fresno myself and wanted to share a resource that's been super helpful for my disabled father. The Fresno Senior Center on M Street actually has a volunteer program where they'll help seniors navigate RMP for the first time - they even have volunteers who can go with your mom to restaurants initially to help her get comfortable with the process. You can reach them at (559) 498-1651. Also discovered that the Little Caesars on Herndon & First accepts EBT for RMP participants - they started about 6 weeks ago and the staff there seems well-trained on the process. The $5 Hot-N-Ready pizzas are perfect for when your mom wants something quick and affordable. One thing that's really helped my dad is downloading the "Providers" app on his phone (I set it up for him) - it has a map feature that shows nearby RMP locations with current status updates. Way more accurate than static lists online since it gets updated by actual users in real-time. From reading all these comments, it sounds like your mom is going to have so many great options! This community has been incredibly helpful with practical advice.

This whole thread has been so eye-opening! I'm in Orange County and had no idea that any counties were offering transportation assistance programs like this. Reading about Sacramento Mobility Access and the Riverside County Transportation Assistance Program gives me hope that we might have something similar here that I just haven't found yet. I've been struggling with the same issues - my car needs major repairs and I can't afford them, so I've been spending way too much on rideshare just to get to work and basic appointments. I'm definitely going to call our county CalFresh office tomorrow and ask specifically about "transportation assistance for CalFresh recipients" like @Theodore Nelson suggested. It's amazing how helpful this community is - I never would have known to ask about these programs if I hadn't found this conversation. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and information!

@Finnegan Gunn I m'also in Orange County and just called our CalFresh office this morning after reading this thread! They told me about something called the OC "Transportation Voucher Program that" I had never heard of before. It s'similar to what Sacramento and Riverside have but they only offer 4 vouchers per month instead of 8. You have to apply through the CalFresh office and show that you need transportation for work, medical appointments, or benefit-related meetings. The worker said there s'currently no waiting list but they do have limited funding so it s'first-come-first-served each month. She s'mailing me the application today! This community is amazing - I never would have known to ask about this without reading everyone s'experiences here. Definitely call and ask specifically for transportation "assistance or" transportation "voucher programs -" those seem to be the magic words that get you transferred to the right person!

This is incredible! I'm in San Diego County and had no idea these transportation assistance programs existed anywhere in California. Reading about Sacramento Mobility Access, Riverside's program, and now Orange County's voucher system makes me realize I need to stop assuming there's no help available and actually call my county office. I've been in the same boat as everyone else - car troubles, expensive rideshare costs, missing work because I can't get there reliably. It's so frustrating that these programs aren't better publicized! Like, why do we have to stumble across this information in a random online conversation instead of being told about it when we sign up for CalFresh? Anyway, I'm calling San Diego County tomorrow and asking about "transportation assistance for CalFresh recipients" - fingers crossed we have something similar down here. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and actually followed up with details. This thread should be pinned or something because this information is gold for people struggling with transportation!

Lia Quinn

This thread has been absolutely life-changing for me to read! I'm currently experiencing homelessness and sleeping in my car, and I had absolutely no idea that CalFresh offered these motel vouchers through their homeless assistance program. Sean's story gives me so much hope - seeing how he went from confusion about missing voucher days to successfully advocating for his full 16 days shows that the system CAN work if you know how to navigate it. I'm planning to apply for this program first thing Monday morning, and thanks to everyone's shared experiences, I feel so much more prepared. The key takeaways I'm noting down: bring ALL documentation showing eligibility, know about the February 2025 policy change to 16 days, don't accept the first "no" without asking for a supervisor, and have multiple contact strategies ready (phone, in-person, online portals, services like Claimyr if needed). What really stands out to me is how much self-advocacy is required - it's honestly shocking that people have to fight so hard for benefits they're already entitled to, but at least now I know what to expect. This community has created something more valuable than any official guide. Thank you all for sharing your real experiences and creating such an incredible resource for people like me who are navigating housing instability!

Lia, your determination to apply on Monday is inspiring! This thread really has become an amazing resource for anyone facing housing challenges. Having all this collective knowledge before you go in is going to make such a huge difference in your experience. I love how you've summarized the key strategies - especially remembering that February 2025 policy change that some workers still don't seem to know about. Sean's success story proves that persistence really does pay off, even when the initial response isn't what you hoped for. Make sure to take photos of any paperwork they give you, and don't hesitate to ask questions if something doesn't match what you've learned here. Wishing you all the best with your application - please come back and share how it goes! Your experience could help the next person in a similar situation. This community really does have your back!

This whole thread has been such an incredible resource! I'm blown away by how much real-world knowledge has been shared here. Sean's journey from confusion to success really demonstrates the importance of persistence and knowing your rights. What strikes me most is how many people didn't even know this homeless assistance program existed through CalFresh - myself included! The collective wisdom here about documentation, the February 2025 policy change to 16 days, asking for supervisors, and having multiple contact strategies is invaluable. It's concerning but important to know that you often have to educate the workers about their own current policies. This thread should honestly be required reading for anyone navigating housing assistance. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences - you've created something more helpful than any official manual could ever be!
