Stuck waiting for Arizona College Connect FAFSA report access - what now?
I'm a new college and career specialist at my high school (literally started a month ago) and I'm trying to access our school's FAFSA completion reports through Arizona College Connect. I submitted all the required paperwork two weeks ago, but still haven't received my invitation to log in. I emailed the support contact last week and heard absolutely nothing back. Our admin is asking about FAFSA completion rates for seniors, and I'm starting to panic because I can't pull the data! Has anyone else had delays with Arizona College Connect access? Is there a direct phone number I should call instead of email? Any advice would be so appreciated!

Yes! The EXACT same thing happened to me last year. Their system is sooooo slowwww. It took almost 3 weeks to get my login info and I was freaking out too. Try calling the AZ Commission office directly instead of using the email on the website. That's what finally worked for me.

•Thank you! Do you happen to have that direct number? I'm getting desperate and my principal is starting to ask questions about our FAFSA completion rates compared to last year.

This is unfortunately very common with the Arizona College Connect portal. As a college access advisor who's worked with multiple schools, I can tell you this happens frequently, especially at the beginning of each FAFSA cycle. A few things that might help: 1. Double-check that your school's designated FAFSA administrator (usually a principal or district admin) has formally added you to the system. Often they need to approve access first. 2. Call the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education directly at 602-258-2435 and explain your situation. They manage the College Connect portal. 3. If you need immediate data while waiting for access, ask a colleague or counselor who already has access to download the most recent report for you. 4. Email help@azfafsareport.org specifically - that's the technical support email rather than the general information one. Hope this helps! The system is valuable once you get access, but the onboarding can be frustrating.

•Thank you SO much for these detailed steps! I'm definitely going to call that direct number tomorrow morning. I've checked and my principal did complete her portion of the authorization, so it seems to be stuck on their end. Really appreciate the backup email too - I've been using a general contact one that's clearly not monitored regularly.

•A month?!?! That's completely unacceptable when schools are trying to support students with timely FAFSA completion. How do they expect counselors to do their jobs without access to the data? The whole point of these reports is to help schools intervene EARLY in the FAFSA cycle. Waiting a month means you've lost critical weeks of the application period. 😡

As someone who's managed FAFSA completion initiatives across several districts, I recommend trying to reach an actual person at the Arizona Commission. The call center for Arizona College Connect is notoriously understaffed this time of year with the new FAFSA cycle beginning. In the meantime, you can get some preliminary data directly from Federal Student Aid. While not as detailed as the Arizona College Connect reports, the FAFSA Completion by High School report is publicly available here: https://studentaid.gov/data-center/student/application-volume/fafsa-completion-high-school It updates every two weeks, so the data won't be real-time, but it will give you something to share with your administration while you wait for full access. Just filter for Arizona and find your school. For next year, I recommend submitting your access request in August before the FAFSA cycle begins - that's when their system is least busy.

•Thank you! I didn't know about that public report - that will definitely help me in the short term. I'm hoping I won't have to wait until next FAFSA cycle though! I'll definitely put a reminder in my calendar for August next year just in case.

I had this exact problem but with Utah's system last year! Waited 3 weeks and nothing. For us it turned out the initial paperwork was sitting on someone's desk waiting for a signature. Maybe check if all your forms actually made it through the approval chain?

•Good point. I just double-checked with my principal and she says she completed all signatures on her end. But I should probably check if it made it to the district level too. These bureaucratic processes can get stuck anywhere!

Hey there! I work with the FAFSA completion initiative in California, and while we have a different system, I've had success reaching Federal Student Aid directly when I've had major delays with our state portal. If you've already tried the direct Arizona Commission route and still aren't getting anywhere, you might want to try Claimyr to reach FSA. I was stuck in a similar situation and used it to get through to an actual person at FSA who helped expedite my request. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ Even if FSA can't directly give you access to the Arizona system, they can sometimes help apply pressure from their end since these state reporting systems operate under their guidance. Just an option if you're still stuck after trying the state-level contacts!

•Thanks for this suggestion! I hadn't thought about going directly to FSA. If I don't make progress with the AZ Commission tomorrow, I'll definitely check out that service. Our senior class is counting on me to help them with FAFSA completion, so I need to get this access ASAP!

just wondering why cant you ask another counselor at your school to download the reports for you temporarily while waiting?? thats what we did when our new person started

•Unfortunately, I'm the only college/career specialist at our school. We have general counselors, but none of them have access to the Arizona College Connect portal either - that's specifically my role. I'm essentially replacing someone who retired last year, and their access was deactivated.

Just checking back - were you able to reach someone at the Arizona Commission using that phone number? Sometimes it helps to call right when they open at 8:30am to get through. Let us know if you need other strategies!

•Yes! Success! I called first thing this morning and actually spoke to a real person. Turns out they had my email slightly wrong in their system (they added an extra dot in my school email), so the invitation was bouncing. They fixed it and resent the invitation, and I now have access to our school's FAFSA reports. THANK YOU everyone for your help! For anyone else having this issue, definitely call directly rather than relying on email.
