FAFSA Glitch: Dad's Contributor Section Says 'No Activity' After Invitation - Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with the FAFSA form. I've filled out my mom's contributor section, but my dad's part isn't working. I sent an invitation to his email, and we can see it, but when we click on it, it just says 'no activity.' I've tried resending it and using different devices, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else run into this problem or know how to fix it? I'm getting really frustrated and don't know what to do next.

Ugh, FAFSA can be such a pain! 🙄 I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that helps with weird glitches like this.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a try and see if it helps.

•Good idea! Also, OP, make sure you're using a supported browser. FAFSA can be picky about that stuff.

I swear, the FAFSA system is held together with duct tape and prayers 😂 Have you tried calling their helpline? They might be able to troubleshoot it for you.

•I've been trying to get through to them, but the wait times are insane! It's like they have one person answering phones for the whole country 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You'll have a better chance of getting through quickly.

Here's what worked for me when I had a similar issue: 1. Log out of your FAFSA account completely 2. Clear your browser cache and cookies (as someone else mentioned) 3. Use a different email address to send the invitation to your dad 4. Have your dad try accessing the link from a different device (like his phone instead of a computer) 5. If all else fails, you might need to start a new FAFSA application and re-enter everything 😕 Hope this helps! Let us know if you get it figured out.

•Wow, thank you so much for the detailed steps! I'll definitely try these out. Really hoping I don't have to start over from scratch though 😬

•This is solid advice. I work in a college financial aid office, and we see these kinds of issues all the time. Following these steps usually resolves most problems.

idk if this helps, but my cousin had a similar problem and it turned out her dad's email had a typo in it. Double-check that the email address is 100% correct!

Ugh, FAFSA is the worst! 🤮 Why do they make it so complicated? It's like they don't want us to get financial aid or something.

•For real tho! It's like you need a PhD just to fill out the form 🙄

•Guys, it's not that bad. Just take your time and read the instructions carefully. It's annoying, but not impossible.

•Ok, boomer 🙄 Some of us don't have all day to decipher government forms

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ

•Whoa, that sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Saved me hours of hold time.

•Idk man, paying to talk to the government? Seems sketchy.

•I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not sitting on hold for 3 hours was totally worth the 20 bucks.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? 😂 jk jk... but seriously, sometimes logging out and back in can fix weird glitches like this.

This might sound crazy, but try accessing the FAFSA site using incognito/private browsing mode. Sometimes it bypasses weird caching issues.

•Huh, I never thought of that. I'll give it a shot!

I had this exact same issue last month! The "no activity" message is super frustrating. What finally worked for me was having my dad create his own FSA ID first (if he doesn't have one already) at studentaid.gov, then I resent the invitation. Apparently sometimes the system gets confused if the contributor doesn't have an FSA ID set up beforehand. Also make sure he's clicking the link in the email within 45 days - they expire! Hope this helps and you get it sorted out soon 🤞

Oh man, this is bringing back nightmares from when I was applying! 😅 I remember having the exact same "no activity" issue with my mom's contributor section. What ended up working for me was actually having her log out of ANY existing FSA account she might have had open in another tab, then clicking the invitation link again. Sometimes the system gets confused if there are multiple sessions running. Also - and this might sound weird - but try having your dad click the link on his phone instead of a computer. Mobile seems to handle the FAFSA invitations better for some reason. Good luck, and don't give up! The system is definitely glitchy but it'll work eventually.

•This is really helpful advice! I'm also dealing with FAFSA issues right now and didn't know about the multiple sessions thing. Going to try the mobile approach - seems like everyone has their own trick that eventually works with this system 😅

I went through this exact same nightmare last year! The "no activity" glitch is so common it's ridiculous. Here's what finally worked for me after trying everything else: 1. Have your dad completely close all browser windows and restart his browser 2. Make sure he's NOT logged into any other government sites (like IRS, SSA, etc.) 3. Have him go directly to studentaid.gov and log in with his FSA ID there first 4. THEN click the invitation link from the email The key seems to be establishing that FSA session first before clicking the FAFSA invitation. Something about how their authentication system works gets confused otherwise. Also pro tip: if you're still having issues, try submitting the FAFSA during off-peak hours (like early morning or late evening). The system is less glitchy when fewer people are using it. Hang in there - I know it's super stressful but you'll get through it! 💪

•This is such detailed advice, thank you! I'm actually dealing with a similar contributor issue right now and I never thought about logging out of other government sites first. That makes total sense why the system would get confused. Definitely going to try the early morning approach too - I've been trying during peak hours which probably isn't helping. Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out! 🙏
