eBay seller sent wrong item specs, now ghosting me. Help!
I bought an item on eBay and the specs in the listing were not accurate. Now the seller isn't responding to my messages. I can't use the item because the information was incomplete. I tried to get a refund by saying I hadn't received the order (it was the only way I could get anything done with the automated system), but that was denied since I actually have the item. The seller has until 4/4 to respond before eBay will do anything, even after they denied my request for a refund. What should I do?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been in a similar situation before. Here's what I'd recommend: 1. Document everything: Take photos of the item, screenshot the listing, and save all your messages with the seller. 2. Open an "Item Not as Described" case: This is different from "Item Not Received" and more accurate for your situation. 3. Be persistent: Keep trying to contact eBay customer service. Sometimes you get different answers from different reps. 4. Leave honest feedback: Once this is resolved, make sure to leave detailed feedback about your experience. 5. Consider filing a chargeback with your credit card company if eBay doesn't help. Good luck! eBay can be a pain sometimes, but don't give up!

•This is solid advice! I'd add that you should also check if the item violates eBay's listing policies. Sometimes that can speed up the process.

•I tried the "Item Not as Described" route once and the seller just ghosted me. eBay didn't do jack. 🙄

•Yeah, it's not foolproof, but it's usually the best starting point. If that fails, escalate to eBay customer service directly.

•Preach! 🙌 I've been selling on eBay for years and even I think the system is broken. It's all about protecting the platform, not the users.

Have you tried reaching out to eBay on social media? Sometimes public shaming works wonders lol

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the URL: https://www.claimyr.com

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did it take to get through to an agent?

•It took about 45 minutes, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line.

•Woah, slow down there cowboy. That could backfire and make the seller even less cooperative.

eBay's customer service is a joke. I spent 3 hours on hold last week trying to resolve a similar issue. Anyone know if there's a secret number or email to get faster help?

•There's no secret number, but I've had luck with their Twitter support. Try DMing @AskeBay

Sorry to hear about your situation! I went through something similar last month. Here's what worked for me: First, make sure you're opening the right type of case - "Item Not as Described" rather than "Item Not Received" since you do have the item. Second, when you contact eBay, be super specific about how the listing was misleading (exact specs that were wrong, how it affects the item's usability, etc.). Take screenshots of everything before the seller potentially edits the listing. If the seller keeps ghosting past 4/4, eBay should step in automatically. In the meantime, keep all your documentation organized. The key is being persistent but professional in all your communications. Hope this helps!
