How to check remaining weeks on ESD unemployment claim in 2025

I'm really confused about how many weeks I have left on my regular UI claim. I started receiving benefits in February after losing my job in construction due to the project ending. My ESD account shows I'm on week 12 of payments, but I can't find anywhere that tells me how many total weeks I'm eligible for. Is it still 26 weeks like it used to be? I'm getting nervous because I have interviews but nothing solid yet, and I need to know how much longer I can count on these benefits. I've looked everywhere on eServices but can't find a counter or anything showing weeks remaining. Am I missing something obvious here?

did u try clicking on the 'claim summary' tab?? should be right there

Yeah, I checked there but it just shows my weekly benefit amount and how much I've been paid so far. Nothing about total weeks or remaining weeks.

In Washington state, regular unemployment insurance provides up to 26 weeks of benefits in a benefit year. Your benefit year starts when you first file your claim and lasts for 12 months, regardless of whether you're collecting benefits the entire time. To see exactly how many weeks you have left, log into your eServices account and look for the "UI Claim Details" section. There should be a field labeled "Maximum Benefits Payable" (the total dollar amount you can receive) and another showing how much you've been paid so far. Divide your weekly benefit amount into the remaining balance to calculate your remaining weeks. For example, if your maximum benefit is $15,600, you've received $7,800 so far, and your weekly benefit is $600, then: $15,600 - $7,800 = $7,800 remaining $7,800 ÷ $600 = 13 weeks remaining

Thank you so much! I found it exactly where you said. I have about 14 weeks left, which is a huge relief. Really appreciate the detailed explanation!

When I was on unemployment last year they changed my benefit amount halfway through without telling me! Make sure you keep checking because they don't always notify you when things change. I thought I had 10 weeks left but suddenly it said 6. Still don't know why.

That's not how it's supposed to work. Your weekly benefit amount and maximum benefit amount are calculated at the beginning of your claim and shouldn't change unless there was an error in your initial monetary determination or you reported income incorrectly. If your weeks suddenly dropped, it's possible they found unreported earnings or determined you were ineligible for some weeks. Did you receive any determination letters about overpayments?

I had a similar issue last month when I couldn't figure out my remaining benefits. The online system can be really confusing! I spent THREE DAYS trying to call ESD but kept getting disconnected or told the wait time exceeded 2 hours. Finally I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes. The agent walked me through exactly where to find my remaining benefits and also explained some job search requirements I didn't know about. They have a video demo if you want to see how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Hope that helps - having an actual person explain things made a huge difference for me.

Thanks for the tip! I already found what I needed using the method from the other commenter, but I'll definitely keep Claimyr in mind if I run into problems that need an actual ESD person. The phone system is absolutely brutal.

The ESD website is GARBAGE!!! I've been on UI twice in the past 3 years and both times it's been nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find basic information. They redesigned the site last year and somehow made it WORSE!!! Why can't they just put a simple counter showing "Weeks used: X/26" somewhere obvious? Why make us do math and hunt through multiple screens??? It's almost like they WANT us to make mistakes so they can hit us with overpayments later!!!!

for real tho!! took me like 2 months to figure out how to even file my weekly claims correctly lol

Just a heads up - if you're getting close to using all your regular UI, make sure you understand what happens after. When I exhausted my regular UI last fall, I thought I'd automatically qualify for extended benefits, but that program isn't active right now since unemployment rates aren't high enough in Washington. Really caught me off guard! Start applying to more jobs now even if you have weeks left.

That's really good advice, thank you. I've been applying to about 5 jobs a week (more than the required 3), but I'll definitely ramp it up. Do you know if the training benefits program is still available? I've been thinking about taking some certification courses if my job search drags on.

Yes, the Training Benefits (TB) program is still available in 2025. If you're approved for training, you can receive additional weeks of benefits while attending an approved training program. You should apply for this as soon as possible though, as there's an application process and you need to be approved before exhausting your regular benefits. Contact your local WorkSource office to discuss your options - they can help determine if you qualify and guide you through the application process.

anybody know if seasonal workers get less weeks? my brother works construction and said he only got like 20 weeks

The number of weeks doesn't change based on industry, but the total benefit amount is calculated based on your earnings during your base year. Some seasonal workers might have lower earnings during certain quarters, which could result in a lower maximum benefit amount. With a lower weekly benefit amount, the same maximum benefit might stretch over more weeks. Conversely, higher earners might have fewer weeks because their weekly amount is higher.
