just want to say thanks to everyone for the helpful info. this thread has been more useful than anything i could find on the washington esd website. at least now i know what to expect even if i dont like it
Final update: I was able to speak with someone at Washington ESD (used the Claimyr service and it worked perfectly) and confirmed that they'll be withholding $175 from my $350 weekly benefit for child support. Not ideal but at least now I can budget accordingly. Thanks everyone for the advice and support!
Great to hear Claimyr worked for you too. It really makes a difference being able to talk to an actual person.
Thanks everyone for all the help! I feel much more confident about filing my new claim now. It's good to know I'm not starting completely from scratch.
One last thing to remember - make sure you're available for work and actively seeking employment when you file. Washington ESD will ask about your availability and job search efforts right from the start of your new claim.
One last tip - once you're approved and start receiving benefits, don't spend them all immediately. Sometimes Washington ESD finds issues weeks or months later and demands repayment. Keep some money set aside just in case. It's rare but it happens.
honestly the whole thing seems way more complicated than it needs to be but at least washington is better than some states. good luck with your application!
Last piece of advice - read all the information they send you after you file! I know it seems like a lot of paperwork and emails but there are important deadlines and requirements buried in there. Missing something because you didn't read the fine print could mess up your benefits.
You got this! Filing for unemployment seems scary at first but thousands of people do it successfully every week. Just take it one step at a time and don't be afraid to reach out for help when you need it. This forum is great for questions and there are other resources too like Claimyr for phone support if you get stuck trying to reach ESD.

The payment timing also depends on when exactly you submit your weekly claim. If you file really late on Sunday night, it might not process until Monday.

•I filed mine around 2pm on Sunday, so hopefully that was early enough.

•That should be fine. I think the cutoff is midnight Sunday.

Once you get into the routine, it becomes pretty predictable. File on Sunday, payment by Wednesday is the typical pattern for direct deposit.
