Just to clarify something important - when you complete your weekly claim, there's a question that asks if you were able and available for work each day. The correct approach for your situation would be to answer 'Yes' to this question IF you were genuinely able to accept work (meaning you could return from your trip if offered a job) and were checking for employment communications. Don't overthink what 'able and available' means - it's about your willingness and capability to accept suitable employment if offered, not about your physical location at every moment.
so how did it go? did u get ur car and was ur claim ok?
Quick update suggestion - if you're not already, make sure you're answering "YES" to the question about being able and available for work on your weekly claims. Some people mistakenly say "no" thinking it means they don't have a job yet, but that actually flags your claim for adjudication since being available for work is a requirement for benefits.
I called my state rep's office this morning like you suggested! Their staff was super helpful and took all my info. They said they've been getting tons of similar calls and have a direct contact at ESD they'll reach out to. They said to expect a call or email within 3-5 business days. Fingers crossed this works! I'll update when I hear something.
Just to add to my earlier comment - if your claim says "pending" that usually means there's an issue that requires adjudication. The most common reasons are employment separation issues (if they need to verify why you left your job) or availability issues (if they're checking that you're able and available for work). If you can get through on the phone, ask specifically about what's causing the pending status and if there's anything you can do to resolve it faster. Sometimes there are documents you can upload or information you can provide that will speed things up. I went through this in February and my claim was stuck for 5 weeks before I finally got it resolved. The system is definitely overloaded right now.
This is super helpful info, thank you! I quit my last job because my manager was creating a hostile work environment (documented in emails) and I told them that when I applied. Maybe that's what's causing the hold up? I'll definitely ask about that if I can get through.
update??? did u ever get through to them??
Yes!! I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned above and got through to ESD yesterday. Turns out they needed additional documentation about why I left my last job. The agent helped me upload the right documents and said my claim should be processed within 72 hours. Fingers crossed!
Just wanted to follow up - did your payment arrive? I'm in a similar situation and trying to gauge timing.
Yes! It came through exactly 42 hours after the status changed to paid. It was one lump sum for all 9 weeks minus taxes. Such a relief! If yours shows paid, it should be very soon!

I went through something eerily similar in January-April this year. Construction industry as well, but I was in commercial electrical. One thing that really helped me was documenting EVERYTHING. Every call, every person I spoke with, every message in the portal. When I finally got through to someone helpful, I was able to give them a complete timeline which seemed to make them take my case more seriously. Also, I know this sounds obvious, but double-check that you don't have any alerts or questionnaires in your eServices account that might be hiding somewhere. I discovered I had missed responding to something that was buried in a weird part of the portal, and that was part of what caused my delay. The mortgage situation is really tough - while you're waiting, you might want to contact your mortgage company and ask about forbearance options. Many still have COVID-related programs that can give you a little breathing room while you get this sorted out. Hang in there - the system is ridiculous but persistence eventually pays off.

•Thank you for the suggestion about keeping documentation. I've started a log of all interactions now. I also took your advice and called my mortgage company - they said they can give me a 30-day extension without affecting my credit if I can provide documentation about my unemployment situation. That gives me a little breathing room at least.

Just wanted to follow up - any news on your claim yet? Did the hardship review help speed things up?

•Yes! I got approved yesterday! The payments should be in my account by Friday according to the portal. The combination of the hardship review and my state rep's office contacting them seemed to do the trick. They backdated everything to February when I first applied. I can't express how relieved I am. Thank you all for the advice - it literally saved my home.
