If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Don't forget that unemployment insurance also includes reemployment services. WorkSource offices can help with job search assistance, resume writing, interviewing skills, and sometimes training programs.

Are you required to use WorkSource services or is it optional?

0 coins

It's usually optional, but some claimants may be required to participate in reemployment services if they're identified as likely to exhaust benefits. You'll be notified if this applies to you.

Bottom line - unemployment insurance is a legitimate benefit that workers have earned through their employment. It's not charity or welfare, it's insurance. Your nephew shouldn't feel bad about using it if he qualifies.

Thank you everyone! This has been incredibly helpful. I feel like I can explain it properly to him now and help him get started with his claim.

0 coins

Good luck to your nephew! The system works when you understand the requirements and stay on top of everything.

Thanks for asking this question OP. I'm in a similar situation and this thread has been really helpful.

Glad it helped someone else too. At least we're not alone in this.

0 coins

Yeah, it's good to know other people are dealing with the same stuff.

Final thought - if you do end up needing to file a new claim, make sure you have all your employer information ready including any part-time work you did during your benefit year. The sooner you get that process started, the better.

0 coins

Thanks for all the helpful advice. I feel a lot more prepared to handle this now.

0 coins

You're welcome. Good luck with whatever path you end up taking!

Just wanted to say good luck with your claim! I was in a similar situation last year and it worked out fine. The stress of not knowing is awful but try to stay positive. Washington ESD is pretty fair about these things when it's clearly not misconduct.

0 coins

Thank you! Everyone here has been so helpful and encouraging. I'm feeling much more confident about filing now.

That's what this community is for! We've all been through the unemployment process and know how scary it can be.

One more thing - when you do your weekly claims, make sure you're honest about looking for work and meeting the job search requirements. That's separate from your eligibility issue but you need to keep up with it once you're approved.

0 coins

Good reminder. What are the current job search requirements? I haven't been on unemployment before.

0 coins

You need to make at least 3 job search activities per week and keep a log. There are details on the Washington ESD website about what counts as a valid job search activity.

One last thing - make sure you understand the difference between FUTA taxable wages and regular wages for other payroll taxes. Some things that are subject to federal income tax withholding might not be subject to FUTA.

0 coins

Can you give an example of wages that would be exempt from FUTA?

0 coins

Payments to statutory non-employees, certain family members, some student workers - check IRS Publication 15 for the full list.

Thanks everyone for the help! This thread has been really informative. I feel much more confident about handling FUTA deposits now. And I'm definitely going to check out that Claimyr service for when I need to call government agencies - seems like it could save a lot of time and frustration.

Glad we could help! Feel free to post if you run into any other payroll tax questions.

Will do. This community has been great for getting practical advice on dealing with government agencies and requirements.

Just want to add that your benefit amount stays the same for your entire benefit year (52 weeks from when you first filed), even if you go back to work and then become unemployed again during that period. The only way it changes is if you have a new claim after your benefit year expires.

0 coins

Good point! So I don't need to worry about my benefit amount changing if I find a job and then lose it again within the same benefit year.

0 coins

exactly, and you can collect up to 26 weeks of benefits during that benefit year (assuming you meet all the weekly requirements

0 coins

The benefit calculation seems fair overall but I wish Washington ESD was more transparent about the process. When I first filed, I had no idea how they came up with my weekly amount. Had to do a lot of research to understand the base period concept.

0 coins

agreed, they could definitely explain the process better in their initial paperwork

This thread has been super helpful for understanding the calculation. Thanks everyone!
