One more thing - if you're having trouble finding 3 jobs to apply to each week in your field, consider broadening your search slightly. Related positions, different company sizes, or even contract work can all count as valid applications.
been following this thread and just wanted to say thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences. unemployment is stressful enough without worrying about messing up the paperwork side of things
One more thing - if your unemployment gets cut off or you go back to work, make sure to notify DCS so they can adjust the garnishment back to your regular wages. Otherwise you might end up with issues.
Thanks everyone for all the info. Sounds like I need to call both DCS and potentially use that Claimyr service to get clear answers about my specific situation. At least now I know what questions to ask.
Definitely try Claimyr if you can't get through to Washington ESD the normal way. Made a huge difference for me in getting actual answers instead of just waiting on hold forever.
washington esd really needs to get their act together. how many people are going to have tax problems because of their system errors? this is ridiculous
Final thought - if you do end up needing to contact Washington ESD about this, make sure you have your Social Security number, the exact amount on the 1099-G, and documentation of your claim denial ready. They'll need all of that information to process the correction.
Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm going to try the Claimyr service tomorrow and see if I can finally get through to someone who can fix this mess.
One last thought - if anyone needs to speak with Washington ESD directly about disqualification concerns, that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier has been really reliable for getting through to agents. Sometimes you just need that human contact to understand your specific situation better.
I might try that. The phone system is so frustrating and I really need to talk to someone about my quit reason.
I used Claimyr too when I was worried about a potential disqualification. Worth it for the peace of mind when you can actually talk to someone who knows the rules.
Bottom line - be honest, follow the rules, keep good records, and don't be afraid to ask questions or appeal if needed. The system is confusing but most people who follow the guidelines don't have major issues.

One more tip - when you do get your hearing notice, read it carefully. They'll tell you exactly what documents to bring and what the specific issues are that they'll be addressing.

Just got word that my appeal hearing resulted in a favorable decision! Filed in August, hearing in December, decision this week. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

•Congratulations! That gives me hope. How long before you actually got your back pay?

•They said 1-2 weeks for the back pay to process. Much faster than the original wait!
