To all those having trouble reaching a human at unemployment. I just ran across this video that gave me a shortcut to reach a human. Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/GK1CFuX4p2k
Jennifer, I completely understand your frustration - I've been in a similar situation waiting months for my to be processed. One thing that helped me was documenting everything in writing and sending certified letters to VEC with your case details and timeline. Also try calling right at 8:15 AM when they open - I've had better luck getting through then. Have you tried reaching out to your local delegate's office too? Sometimes they can help escalate cases that have been stuck for months. Hang in there, and don't give up!
To all those having trouble reaching a human at Virginia unemployment. I just ran across this video that gave me a shortcut to reach a human. Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/GK1CFuX4p2k
This is such a frustrating situation that so many of us are dealing with! I'm also waiting on a deputy review - it's been 4 months for me. I've called multiple times and keep getting the same "be patient" response. It's really hard to be patient when you need these benefits to survive. Has anyone had any luck getting escalated or reaching someone higher up who can actually help move these cases along? It seems like there should be some kind of timeline or accountability for how long these reviews can take.
I completely understand your frustration, Anita! I'm actually going through something similar - been waiting 3 months for my deputy review. One thing I tried recently was reaching out to my state delegate's office. I heard they sometimes have a constituent services department that can help with state agency issues like delays. I also submitted a formal complaint through the website, though I haven't heard back yet. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to. Have you tried contacting your local representatives? Sometimes political pressure can help move these things along faster than just calling the regular customer service line.

I'm currently stuck in this exact same situation! Just registered online last week and when I went to file my first weekly claim today, I hit the PIN wall. It's so frustrating that their online system doesn't automatically generate this - feels like a pretty basic feature that should be included in 2024! Based on everyone's advice here, I'm definitely going to try the 8:00 AM calling strategy tomorrow. Going to set my alarm for 7:55 AM and call (866) 832-2363 right when they open with my SSN and confirmation number ready. It's annoying that we have to call after doing everything online, but at least there seems to be a clear solution that actually works. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences and specific tips - this thread has been incredibly helpful for understanding what seemed like an impossible problem! Will update once I hopefully get my PIN activated tomorrow. 🤞

•You're definitely on the right track, Emma! I just went through this exact same process a couple weeks ago and the early morning calling strategy really is the key. The 7:55 AM alarm is perfect - gives you a few minutes to get your documents ready and be fully awake before dialing right at 8:00. Having your confirmation number from the registration email ready to go will make the whole process so much smoother once you get through. It's frustrating that Virginia's system has this gap between online registration and PIN setup, but at least you know exactly what to do now. You've got this! Looking forward to hearing your success story tomorrow! 🙌

I'm dealing with this exact same PIN issue right now! Just finished my online registration yesterday and got completely stuck when trying to file my first weekly claim today. It's so frustrating that their system doesn't automatically generate the PIN during online signup - seems like such a basic feature that should be integrated in 2024! Reading through all these comments has been incredibly helpful though. The 8:00 AM calling strategy seems to be the consistent winner here. I'm definitely going to set my alarm for 7:55 AM tomorrow and call (866) 832-2363 right when they open with my SSN and confirmation number from my registration email ready to go. It's ridiculous that we have to call after doing everything online, but at least now I know there's a proven solution that actually works. Thanks to everyone who shared their step-by-step experiences - knowing that most people got their PIN activated the same day they called gives me hope! Will report back tomorrow on how it goes. 🤞
