PA UC payment processed yesterday - will I receive funds tomorrow after hardship approval?

Lost my warehouse position due to 'seasonal adjustments' on Feb 12, 2025 (not my fault!) and my claim has been stuck in review for almost 6 weeks while I've been filing weekly. Bills piling up like crazy - rent is due and my landlord is NOT understanding. Finally broke down and called PA UC on Tuesday practically sobbing to the rep. He asked if I wanted to file a hardship claim and talk to a supervisor about my situation. The supervisor called me back in about 3 hours and somehow magically got my claim approved and pushed through that day! System now shows payment was processed yesterday (March 21) but I'm wondering if anyone knows when the money will actually hit my account? Will it be tomorrow? I've never had unemployment before and don't know how long the transfer takes after it shows as 'processed'. Really need this $ to hit ASAP!

The timing depends on whether you're getting your benefits on the Money Network card or direct deposit to your bank account. If it's direct deposit, it usually takes 2-3 business days after processing. For the Money Network card, funds typically appear next business day after processing. So if it processed yesterday, there's a good chance you'll see it tomorrow if you're using the card. Since this is your first payment, it might include several weeks of backpay all at once, which is good news for your bills!

Thank you!!! I chose direct deposit to my credit union account. Hoping it comes through tomorrow but sounds like it might be Monday or Tuesday. Just glad to finally have something happening after all the waiting and worrying.

Thanks! Yeah I definitely got lucky. The first rep I talked to could tell I was really desperate. Honestly didn't expect the supervisor to call back so quickly. Sorry your boyfriend had to wait even longer!

If your payment was processed yesterday (3/21) and you're on direct deposit, typically the funds will be available by Tuesday (3/25) at the latest. Banks don't process ACH transfers on weekends, so that's why there's a slight delay. For anyone else reading who's stuck in a similar situation with an extended review period, filing a hardship claim is definitely the right approach, especially if you're facing immediate financial difficulties like possible eviction or utility shutoffs. The key is to speak directly with a representative who can escalate your case. Also, make sure your bank information is 100% accurate in the system. I've seen payments delayed by incorrect routing numbers or account numbers.

Tuesday makes sense with the weekend delay. I double checked my banking info when I set everything up so hopefully no issues there. Definitely going to be eating ramen until then but at least there's an end in sight!

Wait does the hardship claim really work? I've been stuck for 4 weeks with an "unresolved issue" on my claim and can't get anyone on the phone.

I've been stuck in the PA UC system for WEEKS trying to get anyone on the phone about my appeal. It's absolutely RIDICULOUS how impossible it is to reach them!!! I call at exactly 8am when they open and still get the busy signal or the "call volume too high" message. Is there some secret phone number I don't know about? How did you manage to actually speak to a real person?

I had the same problem trying to reach PA UC for weeks about my open issue. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an agent in about 30 minutes instead of spending hours redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Much better than wasting entire days trying to call. The agent I spoke with was able to clear up my issue right away once I actually got through.

When I got my backpay after a long wait, it hit my account around 3am on the second business day after processing. So if yours processed Friday, probably Tuesday morning it'll be there. Just be ready - if you owe state or federal taxes, child support, or certain other government debts, they might take some out before you get it. I was expecting like $4,800 in backpay and only got $3,900 because of state tax withholding and a debt offset I didn't know about. Also, don't forget you're gonna need to do your work search activities EVERY WEEK even while waiting for payment approval. I messed that up and lost a week of benefits.

Thanks for the heads up! I don't have any child support or known debts, but good to know about the tax withholding possibility. And yes, I've been carefully documenting all my work search activities each week even while waiting - applied to 3-4 jobs every week and saved all the confirmation emails just in case.

my payment always hits on wednesday no matter what day they process it. weird how everyones experience is different

That's because different banks have different processing times for ACH transfers. Some credit unions and online banks process them faster than traditional banks. Also depends if your bank holds deposits for a certain period.

Congrats on getting through! Quick question - did they mention anything about your back weeks? Like, did you have to do anything special to claim those? I'm in week 3 of waiting and getting worried.

The supervisor said all my weekly claims that I'd been filing would be processed together in one lump sum since they were all filed on time. So make sure you keep filing every week even while you're waiting for approval! I filed 5 weeks worth while waiting, and the system shows they're all being paid together now.

Just for future reference, for anyone reading this thread - when your claim is stuck in review, here's what you should do: 1. Keep filing your weekly claims on time, every week 2. Document ALL work search activities (PA requires at least 3 per week now) 3. Call the UC service center as early as possible (right at 8am) 4. If you're facing financial hardship (eviction, utility shutoff, etc.), specifically ask for a hardship review 5. If the first rep can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor 6. Check your dashboard daily for updates 7. Make sure your contact info is current in the system The system is frustrating but persistence pays off eventually.

This is really helpful! I wish I'd known to specifically ask for a hardship review earlier - might have saved me a few weeks of stress.
