Does PA UC give you a transaction number immediately after filing or next day?
Quick question for anyone who's recently filed - I just submitted my initial PA UC claim about 3 hours ago and was expecting to see a transaction/confirmation number in my dashboard. There's nothing showing up yet. Is this normal? Will it appear later today or should I wait until tomorrow? I'm super nervous about making sure everything went through correctly since I really need these benefits to start soon. Thanks for any info!

The transaction # usually shows up within 24 hrs not right away. Check tomorrow morning and it should be there. Thats how it was for me anyway.

•Thank you! That's a relief to hear. I was worried something went wrong with my application.

Transaction numbers typically appear within 24 hours after filing your initial claim. If you filed today, you should see it sometime tomorrow in your dashboard. This is completely normal and doesn't indicate any problem with your claim. Make sure you check your dashboard under the "Claim Summary" section - that's where it will appear. Also remember to file your weekly certification starting Sunday even if you haven't received a financial determination yet!

•Thanks for the detailed info! I'll definitely check tomorrow. And good reminder about the weekly certification - I wouldn't have known to do that before getting the determination. Do I wait until Sunday specifically or can I file the weekly cert anytime after tomorrow?

Just want to add that while the transaction number usually appears within 24 hours, the entire claim processing can take 2-3 weeks before you start receiving payments. Make sure you continue filing your weekly claims every week during this waiting period! I learned this the hard way and missed out on 2 weeks of benefits because I thought I needed to wait for approval first.

•Oh wow, I had no idea it would take that long for payments! Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely keep filing weekly while waiting.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME WORRY!! The transaction number didn't show up for me until the next morning. But then I had a problem where my claim got stuck with an "open issue" for THREE WEEKS!! Couldn't get anyone on the phone - kept getting busy signals and disconnects. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a real person. They have this thing where they call PA UC for you and connect you when an agent answers. Saved me from waiting another month! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

•is that service legit? seems weird to have something like that just to talk to unemployment

The transaction number is basically just confirmation that your application was received and is in their system. It should appear tomorrow, but don't confuse this with claim approval. After you get the transaction number, you'll still need to: 1. Wait for your financial determination (7-10 days) 2. Complete your ID verification through ID.me if prompted 3. Start filing weekly certifications beginning the first Sunday after you apply 4. Address any "open issues" that might appear Also make sure you're recording your work search activities - PA requires at least one per week while on unemployment. This is often overlooked but can cause payment delays if you're audited.

•This is super helpful - thank you! I didn't realize there were so many steps after getting the transaction number. I'll be sure to keep track of my work search activities too.

To answer your question about weekly certifications - you must file them specifically during the Sunday-Friday window each week. You can't file early. The first week you're eligible to file will be the Sunday after your initial claim date. For example, if you filed on Tuesday of this week, you would file your first weekly certification starting this coming Sunday.

•Got it! That makes sense. I'll set a reminder for Sunday so I don't forget. Thanks again for all the help!

Glad to see your transaction number showed up! Just wanted to add for anyone else reading this - if you're having trouble accessing your PA UC dashboard or getting logged in, make sure you're using the correct URL (uc.pa.gov) and try clearing your browser cache. I had issues for days thinking my claim didn't go through when it was just a browser problem. Also, if you're like me and tend to overthink things, screenshot your transaction number once it appears - gives you peace of mind to have that confirmation saved!

•Great tip about screenshotting the transaction number! I'm definitely one to overthink things so having that saved confirmation will help me sleep better lol. Also good point about the browser cache - I've had similar issues with other government websites where clearing cache fixed login problems.

Adding to what others have said - I just went through this process last month. The transaction number appeared for me in about 18 hours, but here's something nobody mentioned: make sure you have your SS card and driver's license ready for the ID verification step that comes next. PA UC uses ID.me and it can be pretty picky about document quality. I had to retake photos of my documents 3 times because of lighting/blur issues. Also, don't panic if you see "monetary determination pending" for a while - that's totally normal and just means they're calculating your benefit amount based on your work history.

•Thanks for the heads up about ID.me being picky with document photos! I haven't gotten to that step yet but I'll definitely make sure I have good lighting and a steady hand when I take those pictures. Good to know about the "monetary determination pending" status too - I would have probably freaked out seeing that without your warning. This whole process has so many steps I never knew about before!
