Missing 4 weeks of NY unemployment back pay - can't reach anyone on phone

I finally got my NY unemployment back pay deposited yesterday but I'm really confused because there are exactly 4 weeks missing right in the middle of my claim period (from late February to mid-March 2025). My payment history shows those weeks as 'pending' but everything before and after is marked 'paid'. I've been trying to call NYSDOL for 3 days straight but just sit on hold until they disconnect me after 2 hours. I've tried calling at different times (early morning, lunch, afternoon) with no luck. Is there something else I can do besides calling? Has anyone else had missing weeks in their back pay and how did you resolve it?

Did you ever get through to anyone? Did you try emailing them instead?

This is actually a common issue with back pay right now. There's likely a certification problem with those specific weeks. Check your payment history and see if there's any message or note next to those weeks. It could say something like "pending review" or "additional information needed." First, try sending a secure message through your NY.gov account - go to Messages, then Compose New. Be specific about which exact weeks are missing (include the dates) and mention you've already received partial back pay. Second, double-check those specific weeks in your certification history. You might need to recertify for those weeks if the system shows you never certified or if there was an issue with your answers.

Thanks for the advice! I just checked and those weeks say "pending - additional information required" but there's nothing saying what information they need. I'll try sending a secure message right now with the specific dates.

I went through this EXACT same issue in January!! So frustrating. I tried calling for WEEKS and nobody ever picked up. I finally got through by using this service called Claimyr that connects you to an unemployment agent. You pay them and they call NYSDOL and get you in the call queue, then call you when they have an agent on the line. It worked for me after weeks of trying on my own. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE Once I got through to someone, they fixed my missing weeks right away. Turns out there was a flag on my account for those weeks because I'd entered slightly different info for one question compared to my other certifications.

Thanks for the tip! Did they tell you which question caused the problem? I'm wondering if I did something similar.

The system is COMPLETELY BROKEN right now!!! I've been missing 7 WEEKS of payments since February and nobody will help me! I called 46 TIMES last week and either got disconnected or was on hold until they closed. I've sent FIVE messages through the portal with ZERO response. They expect us to just survive with no money while they take their sweet time fixing their mistakes?!? This is CRIMINAL how they treat people who are just trying to get the benefits they deserve!!!!

Sorry you're dealing with this. The system's definitely overloaded right now with the new claims processing system they rolled out in January. One thing I've noticed - if you called 46 times, try calling fewer times but staying on the line longer. Calling repeatedly puts you at the back of the queue each time. Better to call once at 8:01am and stay on hold.

i had missing weeks too but mine just suddenly appeared after like 3 weeks without me doing anything. maybe yours will too?

That would be nice, but I don't want to just wait and hope. Bills are due and I was counting on that money.

This is usually caused by a discrepancy in how you answered certification questions for those specific weeks. Here's what I recommend: 1. Login to your NY.gov account and go to your payment history 2. Look for any notes or messages on those pending weeks 3. Check your certification history for those weeks to see if they show as completed 4. Submit a secure message with specific dates and your issue 5. Try calling at exactly 8:01am on Tuesday or Wednesday (typically fewer callers those days) If those weeks require additional information, there should be some way to provide it through your online account. Look for a section called "Questionnaires" or "Additional Information Required" in your dashboard.

Thanks for these specific steps. I'll definitely try calling at 8:01 on Tuesday. I checked my dashboard but don't see any questionnaires or requests for more info - just those weeks sitting there as "pending - additional information required" without saying what they need.

I just recalled something that might help - these "pending - additional information required" issues often happen when there's a conflict between your reported work search activities and what the system expects. Did you report the same number of work search activities for those weeks as your other weeks? Also, check if there's a document upload section in your account. Sometimes they want you to upload work search evidence for specific weeks but don't clearly communicate it.

Oh! That might be it actually. For those weeks I was in a training program through the workforce center and I think I answered the work search questions differently since I was told the training counted as my work search. Maybe that's what flagged it. I'll check if I can upload something about the training program.

My cousin had this problem last year and it was because he had reported some part time work during those weeks but entered his earnings wrong. They had to verify his actual earnings which took forever. Did you work at all during those missing weeks?

No, I didn't work during those weeks. I was in a training program though, which I reported, so that might be the issue.

Just checking back - were you able to get this resolved? I was actually told by the agent that sometimes when you're in a training program, they need to manually verify your participation. Did you try calling early morning?

I tried calling at 8:00am today and still couldn't get through. I did end up using that Claimyr service you mentioned though, and they connected me to an agent within an hour. You were right - the agent said the training program triggered a review flag and they needed verification that I was actually enrolled. They're sending me a form to have the training center fill out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Great to hear you got some answers! This is actually a common issue with training programs and unemployment benefits. For anyone else reading this who might be in a similar situation: 1. If you're in a state-approved training program, make sure to formally notify NYSDOL through the proper channels 2. Keep documentation of your enrollment and attendance 3. When certifying, there's usually a specific way to report training instead of regular work search activities 4. Always keep copies of any forms or verification documents you submit Once you submit that completed form, your pending weeks should be released within 7-10 business days.

Thanks for that additional info. I wish they'd made this clearer from the beginning! I'll have the form completed and submitted by tomorrow.
