Im so fed up with this. cant pay rent, cant buy food. meanwhile these govt workers get paid to ignore us. its not fair man
I feel you. It's a messed up situation all around. Have you looked into local food banks? They might be able to help with groceries at least.
I'm in the same boat - been waiting about 5 weeks now with zero updates. The whole system feels like it's designed to wear us down until we just give up. I've tried calling dozens of times but can never get through. The automated system just tells me to wait for updates online, which never come. It's especially frustrating because I know people who filed after me and already got their benefits. Has anyone figured out what actually triggers them to review claims? There has to be some rhyme or reason to it, right?
5 weeks is brutal! I'm dealing with the same thing - filed almost 2 months ago and still nothing. The system definitely seems random. My neighbor filed a week after me and got approved in 10 days while I'm still sitting here π€¦ββοΈ From what I've gathered talking to people, it might depend on your previous employer's response time or if there are any flags on your account that need manual review. Have you tried checking if your employer disputed the claim?
To all those having trouble reaching a human at Michigan Unemployment. I just ran across this video that gave me a shortcut to reach a human. Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/YmVM-26U2rM
I had to my last year and it was a real hassle. You need to call the UIA customer service line (1-866-500-0017) and specifically ask to speak with someone about backdating your claim. Make sure you have documentation ready showing why you weren't able to file on time - like medical records, job termination papers, or proof you didn't know you were eligible. They'll ask for a good cause reason. Be prepared to wait on hold for a long time, but don't give up. Once you get through, they can process the request. It took about 2-3 weeks for mine to be approved. Good luck!
@Lily Young Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This is really helpful. I m'in a similar situation and have been struggling to get through to someone. Can I ask what specific documentation worked best for you? I have some medical records but wasn t'sure if that would be enough to show good "cause. Also," did they from when you first became unemployed or just from when you first tried to file? Really appreciate you taking the time to share the details!
I'm dealing with this exact same situation right now - been stuck in "pending adjudication" for about a week and it's incredibly stressful! Reading through everyone's experiences here has been both helpful and eye-opening. It's amazing how many people have had their issues resolved in just minutes once they actually got through to someone on the phone. I'm definitely going to try the 8 AM sharp calling strategy that so many people have mentioned - it seems like that's really the key to breaking through this system. It's frustrating that we have to strategize like we're trying to get concert tickets just to access our own benefits, but if that's what it takes, I'm ready to commit to it. I've also been checking my MiWAM account obsessively after reading about how they sometimes add new tasks or messages without any notification. Thanks OP for starting this thread - it really helps to know we're not alone in navigating this broken system! πͺ
I'm in the exact same boat - day 4 of pending adjudication and already feeling the anxiety! It's both comforting and frustrating to see how common this issue is. The 8 AM calling strategy seems to be the universal solution everyone's found, which is honestly wild that we all have to use the same "hack" just to reach our own government benefits office π I'm setting multiple alarms tonight to make sure I'm ready to hit redial at exactly 8 AM tomorrow. The obsessive account checking is so real too - I've been refreshing that page like it's social media! Thanks for adding to this thread, it really helps knowing there are others going through this stress right alongside us. We'll get through this! π€
I'm in the exact same situation right now - stuck in "pending adjudication" for 6 days and it's honestly driving me crazy! The complete lack of communication is what gets me the most. Like, just tell us what you need instead of leaving us in this anxiety-inducing limbo! I've been reading through all the advice here and I'm definitely going to start the 8 AM sharp calling strategy tomorrow. It's wild that we have to treat this like we're trying to get concert tickets, but if that's what it takes to get answers, I'm ready to commit. I've also been checking my MiWAM account obsessively throughout the day after reading about how they randomly add tasks without notification - it's insane that we have to become our own case managers just to navigate a basic government service. Thanks for posting this, OP. It's both reassuring and infuriating to see how common this issue is, but at least we know we're not alone in this bureaucratic nightmare. Keep your head up - from what everyone's sharing, persistence really does seem to pay off eventually! πͺ

I'm dealing with the exact same frustrating situation! Been trying to get through for almost two weeks now to dispute some wage information that's completely wrong on my claim. I've tried calling at different times - early morning, lunch time, even late afternoon - but keep getting either busy signals or those dreaded "all circuits are busy" messages. It's honestly ridiculous that we have to jump through these hoops just to correct basic errors on our own claims. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been both helpful and eye-opening though. I'm definitely going to try some of these strategies tomorrow: the 8 AM sharp calling approach, the immediate redial technique when I get busy signals, and having all my documentation ready beforehand. The auto-redial app idea sounds like a lifesaver too. Thanks everyone for sharing what's worked (and what hasn't) - it really helps to know we're all fighting the same broken system together. Here's hoping we all get through eventually! π€

β’I totally feel your pain! Two weeks of trying is exhausting. I just wanted to add something that worked for me - if you have access to multiple phone numbers (like a work phone or family member's phone), try calling from different numbers simultaneously around 8 AM. Sometimes one will get through to the hold queue while others get busy signals. Also, don't forget to try the secure messaging system in MiWAM as a backup - it won't be as fast as a phone call, but at least it creates a paper trail of your dispute attempt. The wage information errors are especially frustrating because they can really mess up your benefit calculations. Keep pushing - from what I've seen in this thread, persistence really does pay off eventually! πͺ

I'm going through this exact nightmare too! Been trying for 3 weeks straight to dispute incorrect employment dates. Here's what's been working for me lately: I set up a calling "routine" where I call at 7:58 AM sharp, then again around 12:30 PM, and once more at 3:15 PM. The key is having multiple attempts but not burning yourself out. Also discovered that if you get through to the automated menu but then get disconnected, call back within 60 seconds - sometimes you'll get placed higher in the queue. I've also been uploading supporting documents to MiWAM while I keep trying to call, so at least there's a digital paper trail. The most important thing I learned: when you finally do get on hold, put your phone on speaker, plug it in to charge, and DO NOT HANG UP no matter what. I waited 6.5 hours last Tuesday but finally got through and resolved everything in 15 minutes. The agent even said my documentation uploads helped speed things up. This system is absolutely broken and we shouldn't have to become phone warriors just to fix basic errors, but don't give up! Your benefits are worth the fight. Stay strong everyone! πͺ
