I'm dealing with the exact same thing right now - going on day 5 of "pending adjudication" and it's driving me absolutely crazy! The worst part is they give you literally zero information about what they're reviewing or how long it might take. I've been following all the advice in this thread about calling at 8 AM sharp, but so far just getting busy signals. One thing I noticed though - I checked my MiWAM account this morning and there was actually a new "determination" tab that wasn't there before, but it's still empty. Not sure if that means anything, but figured I'd mention it in case others want to check for new sections appearing. This whole system is such a nightmare but at least we're all suffering through it together! π Thanks OP for starting this thread - it's been super helpful reading everyone's experiences and strategies.
That's really interesting about the new "determination" tab appearing! Even if it's empty, that could be a sign that they're actually working on your case behind the scenes. I'd definitely keep an eye on that - sometimes these random new sections show up right before they update with actual information. Day 5 is still pretty early compared to what some others here have gone through, so try not to panic yet! Keep hitting those 8 AM calls and checking your account obsessively like the rest of us. It's weirdly comforting to know we're all in this bureaucratic nightmare together π Hang in there!
Ugh, I'm so sorry you're going through this too! I've been stuck in "pending adjudication" for almost 2 weeks now and it's honestly one of the most stressful experiences I've ever had. The complete lack of communication is what gets me the most - like, just tell us what you need instead of leaving us in limbo! I've been trying the 8 AM calling strategy that everyone mentions and finally got through yesterday. Turns out they just needed to verify some basic employment info that literally took 2 minutes to confirm. TWO MINUTES for weeks of stress! π€¦ββοΈ Keep calling every morning, keep certifying your claims, and definitely check your account multiple times a day for random updates. The system is absolutely broken but most people do eventually get through it. Sending you strength! πͺ
Im so fed up with this. cant pay rent, cant buy food. meanwhile these govt workers get paid to ignore us. its not fair man
I feel you. It's a messed up situation all around. Have you looked into local food banks? They might be able to help with groceries at least.
I'm in the same boat - been waiting about 5 weeks now with zero updates. The whole system feels like it's designed to wear us down until we just give up. I've tried calling dozens of times but can never get through. The automated system just tells me to wait for updates online, which never come. It's especially frustrating because I know people who filed after me and already got their benefits. Has anyone figured out what actually triggers them to review claims? There has to be some rhyme or reason to it, right?
To all those having trouble reaching a human at Michigan Unemployment. I just ran across this video that gave me a shortcut to reach a human. Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/YmVM-26U2rM
I had to my last year and it was a real hassle. You need to call the UIA customer service line (1-866-500-0017) and specifically ask to speak with someone about backdating your claim. Make sure you have documentation ready showing why you weren't able to file on time - like medical records, job termination papers, or proof you didn't know you were eligible. They'll ask for a good cause reason. Be prepared to wait on hold for a long time, but don't give up. Once you get through, they can process the request. It took about 2-3 weeks for mine to be approved. Good luck!

I'm going through the exact same frustrating situation! Been trying to reach them for over a week now with no success. One thing I've started doing is calling from different devices - sometimes my cell phone gets the busy signal but my landline gets through to the hold queue (or vice versa). Also, I've been trying the "press 0" trick during the automated menu to see if it routes to a general operator who might be able to transfer me. Haven't had success yet, but figured it's worth mentioning in case it works for someone else. The whole system is absolutely broken and it's infuriating that we have to become detectives just to dispute basic information on our own claims. Hang in there - from reading all these comments, it seems like persistence really is the only way through this mess! π€

β’That's a really clever idea about trying different devices! I never thought about how the routing might be different between cell phones and landlines. The "press 0" trick is worth trying too - sometimes those old-school operator shortcuts still work in these outdated systems. It's honestly mind-blowing that we have to resort to these kinds of workarounds just to access basic services we're entitled to. But you're absolutely right about persistence being key. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been both eye-opening and motivating. We're all basically becoming unemployment system hackers out of necessity! Thanks for sharing your strategies and hang in there - we'll all get through this eventually! πͺ

I'm dealing with this exact same nightmare! Been calling for almost 2 weeks now and it's like trying to win the lottery. What's really helped me is setting up a routine - I call right at 8 AM, then again around 11:30 AM, and once more around 2 PM. I've noticed that sometimes the afternoon calls have slightly better luck getting into the queue. Also, when I do get the "all circuits busy" message, I've been hanging up and immediately redialing instead of waiting - sometimes it takes 40+ attempts but eventually I'll get through to the hold music. The key thing I've learned is to NEVER hang up once you're on hold, no matter how long the estimated wait time is. I waited 3.5 hours yesterday but finally got through and was able to submit my dispute! Keep all your documents ready and write down exactly what you need to say before calling. Don't give up - this system is absolutely broken but persistence does pay off eventually. We shouldn't have to go through this just to access our own benefits! π

β’Congrats on finally getting through after 3.5 hours! That gives me hope. I love the idea of having a structured calling routine throughout the day - I've been randomly calling whenever I think of it, but having set times makes so much more sense. The tip about hanging up and immediately redialing when getting the busy signal is something I definitely need to try. I've been waiting like 30 seconds between attempts which is probably wasting time. It's absolutely insane that we have to develop these elaborate strategies just to dispute basic information on our claims, but I'm grateful for everyone sharing what actually works. Setting up my calling schedule for tomorrow! π€
