What symbols represent justice to you? Discussing classic and modern imagery šŸ¤”āš–ļø

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone else has noticed something interesting about symbols of justice? I've been looking at some images lately and it got me thinking about how we represent fairness and law in our society. What symbols do you guys associate with justice and why?

Diego Rojas

The first things that come to mind are definitely scales and gavels. They're like the classic symbols you see everywhere when it comes to justice and law stuff.

Totally agree! Those are the OG justice symbols. But why scales tho? šŸ¤” Always found that one kinda weird

Scales represent balance and fairness. It's like weighing evidence on both sides to reach a just decision. Pretty clever symbol if you ask me!

Don't forget about Lady Justice! That blindfolded woman holding the scales is pretty iconic too.

Oh yeah, good point! The blindfold is supposed to show impartiality, right? Justice should be blind and all that jazz.

Fun fact: Lady Justice wasn't always depicted with a blindfold. It became popular in the 16th century to symbolize objectivity.

Idk about you guys, but whenever I think of justice, I picture a courtroom. Like, the whole setup with the judge's bench, jury box, and all that. It's not really a symbol, but it's what pops into my head šŸ›ļø

Here's a comprehensive list of common justice symbols and their meanings: ā€¢ Scales: Represent balance and fairness in judgment ā€¢ Gavel: Symbolizes the authority of the court ā€¢ Lady Justice: Personification of justice, often blindfolded with scales and sword ā€¢ Blindfold: Impartiality in judgment ā€¢ Sword: Power of justice and ability to punish ā€¢ Law books: Knowledge and application of the law ā€¢ Torch: Light of truth and reason ā€¢ Columns: Stability and strength of the justice system ā€¢ Eagle: In some countries, represents the power and freedom of justice These symbols have evolved over time and can vary slightly between cultures, but they're generally recognized worldwide in legal contexts.

Great list! But you forgot one important modern symbol: the 'objection!' speech bubble from Ace Attorney šŸ˜‚šŸ—Æļø

Haha, good one! Maybe we should petition to make that an official symbol of justice in the digital age. šŸ˜„

Am I the only one who thinks we need some new, updated symbols for justice? Like, maybe a computer to represent digital evidence or something? The old symbols are cool and all, but times are changing, ya know?

That's actually a really interesting idea! What about a fingerprint scanner or DNA helix for modern forensics?

I get where your coming from, but I think the old symbols still work. There timeless for a reason. Not everything needs an update imo

Hey guys, I know this is a bit off-topic, but I found a method to get someone on the phone when dealing with legal or government issues. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Whoa, that sounds pretty useful. How long did you have to wait before they connected you?

Idk man, sounds kinda sketchy. You sure it's legit? šŸ¤Ø

Yeah, it's totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. @profile15, it took about 45 minutes, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music the whole time. Way better than the 3+ hours I spent trying to get through on my own.
