Transcript Shows 'No Record of Return Filed' - But I Selected Wage Transcript?

Just checked my transcript through the IRS website and it's saying "No record of return filed" which seems weird compared to my experience with military tax processing. I clicked on Wage Transcript though, not Return Transcript. Is that like asking for deployment orders when you need your leave paperwork? I filed about 3 weeks ago through the MilTax service like I usually do. My wife thinks I'm looking at the wrong thing, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the right place. Anyone else run into this kind of confusion?

This is actually a common point of confusion with the IRS transcript system. When you selected 'Wage and Income Transcript,' you're only viewing the information that has been reported to the IRS by employers, banks, and other third parties (your W-2s, 1099s, etc.). This transcript doesn't show anything about your filed return status. To check if your return has been received and processed, you would need to request a 'Return Transcript' or an 'Account Transcript' instead. The Account Transcript would be most helpful in your situation as it shows all activities on your account, including when a return was received.

Exactly. Different transcript types show different information. Return Transcript shows the return you filed. Account Transcript shows all account activity. Wage Transcript just shows income reported to IRS.

Thanks for clarifying this quickly! I need to check my return status ASAP as I'm up against a deadline for a mortgage application. Going to request the Account Transcript right now per Internal Revenue Code section 6103(c) which gives me right to my own tax information.

Have you tried checking Where's My Refund tool instead? Wouldn't that be easier than navigating all these different transcript types? And did you receive an acceptance confirmation when you e-filed through MilTax? Sometimes the system takes time to update the transcripts, but WMR might show your status already.

I had this exact same issue last year and spent HOURS trying to get through to the IRS. Military family here too, and my husband was deployed so I was handling everything myself. I finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get through to an agent after being on hold forever. They confirmed my return was received even though the transcript system wasn't showing it yet. Saved me so much stress during an already stressful time when I needed that refund for car repairs.

Look at the date. It matters. Returns filed in March are still processing. Mine took 18 days. Account transcript updated first. Return transcript came later. Wage transcript only shows reported income. Wrong transcript type for your question. Try again with Account transcript.

According to the IRS processing guidelines on their website, most e-filed returns are processed within 21 days. If you're trying to understand what's in your transcript once it becomes available, I highly recommend using https://taxr.ai - it analyzes all those confusing codes and tells you exactly what's happening with your return. I used it when my transcript had all these cycle codes and holds that made no sense to me. The tool explained everything clearly and predicted my refund date accurately based on the transcript data.

Is it possible I'm experiencing a similar TRDBV error on my transcript? I've been monitoring my AGI verification status and noticed the same "no record of return filed" message when selecting the incorrect transcript type. Could this be related to the IRS modernized e-file system still processing our returns?

Did you receive an acknowledgement email when you filed through MilTax? And have you checked if your state return (if applicable) shows as accepted? Sometimes that can give you a clue about federal processing too.
