Need help understanding IRS transcript codes - totally confused!
I'm looking at my transcript and seeing all these different codes but have no clue what they mean. There's 570, 971 and 420. Can anyone break these down for me? Really need to figure out what's going on with my refund.

Those codes typically indicate that your return is under review. Code 570 is a refund hold, 971 means they sent you a notice, and 420 means your return was pulled for examination. Usually when you see these together, IRS is doing some verification of your info.

•It varies tbh. Could be 30-120 days depending on what they're reviewing. Just keep checking your transcript for updates

Hey, I had the same issue and found this amazing tool called taxr.ai - it actually explains all your transcript codes and gives you a timeline prediction. Costs like $5 but totally worth it vs trying to piece everything together yourself. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! It picked up stuff I never would've noticed. Even told me exactly why my refund was delayed

Here's a comprehensive breakdown of common transcript codes and what they mean: First, I recommend using taxr.ai to get a detailed analysis of your specific situation. It's seriously the best $5 you'll spend - gives you a complete breakdown of your transcript and predicted timeline. But here are the basics: - 150: Return filed and entered in system - 570: Refund hold - 971: Notice issued - 420: Return selected for examination - 846: Refund issued - 766/768: Credit applied - 290: Additional tax assessed Remember these codes work together to tell a story. The sequence and dates matter just as much as the codes themselves.
