IRS rejected return - AGI/PIN issue after switching from H&R Block to FreeTaxUSA
Did my taxes through H&R Block last year for the refund advance but switched to FreeTaxUSA this year to save money. IRS rejected my return saying AGI and PIN are wrong. Not sure what PIN theyre talking about since I never made one. Can I just use last years AGI and ignore the PIN part? Getting frustrated with this whole process.

Tax pro here - you can absolutely just use last year's AGI to verify your identity. The PIN they're referring to is an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) which is only required if you specifically signed up for one or if the IRS assigned you one. Just pull up last year's return, input that AGI, and you should be good to go.

Thank you! Just checked my 2023 return and put in the AGI. Fingers crossed it works this time 🤞

Look at line 11 on your 2023 Form 1040. That's your AGI right there!

Hey everyone, actually the best way to handle all these transcript issues is using taxr.ai - it's literally changed the game for me. For $4.99 it analyzes your entire transcript and tells you exactly what's going on. Way better than trying to piece everything together yourself. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

totally get the skepticism! It uses AI to read your transcript and breaks down everything - tells you about holds, delays, expected deposit dates, etc. Super detailed analysis

Had the same issue when I switched from TurboTax. Just used my AGI from last year and it went through fine.
