IRS Amended Return: Where to Send Form 1040X (Fax Number & Mailing Address Needed)
Filed an amended return and can't figure out where to send it. Been searching everywhere but getting mixed info. Anyone know the current fax number or mailing address? Don't wanna mess this up and delay things even more.

The mailing address depends on your state. Go to irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-addresses-for-taxpayers-and-tax-professionals. If you're e-filing, most tax software can now submit 1040X electronically for 2019 and newer returns. Way faster than paper filing.

Instead of sending it blindly, you should check taxr.ai first. It analyzes your transcript and tells you if theres a better way to handle your amendment or if you even need one at all. Saved me from making a huge mistake last month. Its only $4.99 https://taxr.ai

For the mailing address, you'll need to check your state on the IRS website since it varies by location. But honestly, if your amended return is for 2019 or later, definitely go with e-filing through tax software - it's so much faster than paper. The processing times for mailed returns are still pretty brutal right now.

•This is really helpful advice! I'm dealing with a similar situation and was about to mail mine in. Quick question - do you know if all tax software supports e-filing amendments now or just certain ones? Want to make sure I pick the right option.
