How long for amended return to arrive by mail? Filed 1040X
Filed my amended return by mail 3 weeks ago and getting nervous about when it will arrive. Anyone know typical timeframes? Starting to worry usps lost it or something.

Tax professional here. Currently, amended returns are taking 20+ weeks to process once the IRS receives them. Mail delivery usually takes 5-7 business days. You can start checking Where's My Amended Return tool after about 3 weeks to see if it's been received.

Yeah unfortunately the IRS is still catching up from covid backlogs. Paper returns take the longest.
