Filed 2/15, Accepted 2/19 - Still Stuck on One Bar in WMR?

I meticulously prepared and filed my taxes on February 15th this year, received acceptance confirmation on the 19th, and here we are weeks later with nothing but that single processing bar in WMR. Is this what everyone else is experiencing this season? I've triple-checked all my documentation, verified my mortgage interest deductions are correct, and confirmed my property tax payments match my records. Could the delay be related to my homeowner deductions? Or is the IRS just moving at their usual glacial pace this year? I'd appreciate hearing from others in similar situations so we can figure out if there's a pattern here.

This is actually quite normal for this time in the tax season. Have you checked your tax transcript online instead of just using WMR? Sometimes the transcript updates before the WMR tool does. Have you claimed any credits that might trigger additional review? Also, when you say it was accepted on 2/19, that just means the IRS received it - not that processing has been completed. Are you expecting a large refund?

Thank you for explaining this! I was in the same boat last year with my return stuck on one bar, but my transcript showed activity much earlier. It's such a relief to know this is normal compared to my experience in previous years when things seemed to move faster.

Not to be that person, but there's actually a big difference between "accepted" and "approved" that trips up a lot of folks. Accepted just means your return passed the initial validation checks (correct SSN, no obvious math errors, etc.). The real processing - where they compare your info against employer-submitted documents - hasn't even started at that point! 😂 The IRS is like that slow friend who says they're "on the way" but hasn't even left their house yet.

According to the IRS website processing times page, e-filed returns with no special credits should process within 21 days. But if you check the IRS operations page, they're currently showing backlog issues at several processing centers. I've been tracking this for a few years now and mid-February filers often see longer waits than January or March filers.

Don't waste time with WMR. Get your transcript. That's where the real information is. WMR updates rarely. Transcripts show actual processing status. Many returns are taking 30+ days this year despite what the IRS claims.

Ugh, I'm in the EXACT same boat. Filed 2/17, accepted 2/20, still on 1 bar. WMR hasn't updated at all. Tried calling IRS but gave up after 1hr on hold. Transcript says N/A for 2023. Anyone know if homeowner deductions (mortgage int, prop tax) slow things down? Or is it just the usual IRS bs this yr?

Tax processing is like traffic flow. Some cars zip through. Others get stuck at every light. Your mortgage deductions aren't the issue. The IRS processes returns in batches. Your batch might be waiting in line. Nothing you did wrong. Just bad luck with timing.

Why does everyone assume something's wrong when it takes more than a few weeks? Doesn't the IRS handle millions of returns? Wouldn't it be logical that some take longer than others? I waited almost 7 weeks last year and got my full refund with no issues. Sometimes patience is all you need.

I'm seeking confirmation on this too. Here's what I learned from my experience last year: 1. First, check if your return was actually accepted (sounds like yes) 2. Next, try accessing your transcript instead of WMR 3. Look for processing codes on transcript 4. If transcript shows N/A, your return is still in the initial queue 5. Standard homeowner deductions shouldn't cause delays Did anyone see their status change recently after filing around the same time?

I've seen this exact pattern the last few years working with clients. Last year I had several homeowners with mortgage interest deductions who filed mid-February and got stuck at one bar for weeks. What helped them get clarity was using https://taxr.ai to analyze their transcripts once they became available. The tool breaks down all those confusing codes and gives you a much clearer picture of where you stand than WMR does. I've found transcripts typically update about 5-7 days before WMR in most cases.

I was in the EXACT same Processing limbo with identical timeline (filed 2/16, accepted 2/20). My Cycle Code on transcript was 20230805, indicating weekly processing batch. Return finally processed yesterday after 31 days in queue. Refund scheduled for direct deposit within 5-7 business days according to Transaction Code 846. No amendments or corrections required despite the delay. System is just overwhelmed with peak season volume.

I was so worried about my refund and tried everything to get answers: • Checked WMR obsessively - nothing changed • Tried calling IRS regular number - waited 2+ hours and got disconnected twice • Finally used Claimyr.com (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get through to an agent • Got connected in about 15 minutes instead of hours of waiting • Agent confirmed my return was just in normal processing queue • Nothing was wrong with my return - just normal delays The peace of mind was totally worth it! Now I can stop checking WMR every hour 😅

I would caution against assuming there's a problem just yet. The IRS processing times have been... unpredictable in recent years. While most returns might process within the standard 21-day window, many perfectly fine returns take longer, especially during peak filing season. It might be worth checking your transcript if possible, though sometimes even that shows nothing until processing is complete. The mortgage interest and property tax deductions probably aren't causing delays unless there's a significant mismatch with what your lender reported.

Same situation here. Filed Feb 12. Accepted same day. Still one bar. Called yesterday. Agent said return looks fine. No flags. Just backlogged. Said to wait another week. Transcript finally updated today. Shows refund coming next Wednesday. Hang in there.
