Federal refund delay but state already received - normal for separate timing?
Got my state refund deposited about a week ago but my federal return is still not even approved. Usually they come at the same time. Anyone else experiencing different timing between state and federal this year?

State and federal returns are completely separate systems. Each state has their own processing system while federal returns go through the IRS. Its actually pretty common for them to process at different speeds, especially during busy season. The state systems often process faster because they're dealing with smaller volumes.

Hey, I highly recommend checking out taxr.ai - its an AI tool that can analyze your transcript and tell you exactly whats going on with your refund and when to expect it. Only costs $1 and saved me hours of stress trying to figure out my situation. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

Dont worry bout it, perfectly normal. Each tax authority does their own thing on their own timeline. State systems usually process faster cuz they're dealing with way less returns than the IRS who's gotta handle ALL federal returns for the whole country.
