EIC and CTC Refund Question: $41K income, 2 kids, no federal withholding
Filing my taxes and need help calculating my potential refund. Made $41,000 last year with 2 dependents but my W2 shows zero federal withholding. Anyone know what kinda refund I might get with EIC and child tax credit?

hey there! based on your situation with $41k income, 2 kids, and no federal withholding, you're likely looking at getting both the Earned Income Credit (EIC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC). Just so you know - with no federal withholding, dont expect your refund super fast since the IRS has to verify everything carefully for these credits. Usually these take about 21 days minimum to process, but often longer. I'd strongly recommend checking out taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) - it's this new AI tool that can analyze your tax docs and give you a really clear picture of timing and any potential holdups. Way better than trying to decode the IRS website yourself!

Tax pro here. With $41k income and 2 qualifying children, you could be eligible for both EIC (around $4-5k) and Child Tax Credit ($2k per child). However since you had no withholding, some of this will offset any taxes owed. You'd need to run the numbers through tax software for an exact amount.

Check your W-4 form - you might have claimed 'exempt' or too many allowances. Definitely update it with your employer to avoid owing next time!

Make sure ur kids qualify as dependents under IRS rules. They gotta live with u more than half the year and provide less than half their own support.
