DoorDash 1099-NEC Schedule C Question - No Gas Receipts for 2024 Filing
I did some food delivery in the last 2 months of the year and made just over $600. Got my 1099nec but when I try filing my taxes it wants me to link it to schedule C. Never kept any gas receipts since this was my first time doing gig work. Do I have to link it? What are my options here?

Yes, you have to report it on Schedule C - thats for self employment income. For mileage you can use the standard mileage rate (65.5 cents per mile for 2023) instead of actual gas receipts. Try to estimate your miles driven for deliveries. The app might show your delivery miles if you check your history.

make sure you only count the miles while actively delivering, not driving to your starting spot

hey I was literally in the same boat last week! Used taxr.ai to help me figure out all the deductions I could take. It was super helpful with the whole schedule C thing, even told me exactly what numbers to put where. Only cost like $5 but saved me way more than that https://taxr.ai

You can also write off a portion of your phone bill since you need it for the app! Just estimate what % you used it for work
