Anyone with 2/26 direct deposit date have trace numbers yet? Let's update each other
Filed early February. Got DD date of 2/26. Still nothing in my account. Anyone else? Let's keep each other updated. Need to know if I should start a trace. Working from home makes budgeting tight.

I'm in a similar situation... I think? My transcript shows 2/26 deposit date but nothing has hit my account yet. I've been checking my bank account multiple times a day. Should I be worried at this point? I'm wondering if there's a standard waiting period before we should take action...

Thanks for sharing this. My situation is almost identical to yours, except I filed mid-February. Other people I know who filed around the same time already got their refunds weeks ago, which makes me even more nervous.

When exactly did you file? I submitted mine on February 5th, received acceptance confirmation on February 6th, and transcript updated with the 2/26 date on February 20th. Nothing since then. Just trying to see if there's a pattern here.

Not to be that person, but have you double-checked your bank account info on the return? I once spent two weeks freaking out about a missing refund only to realize I'd transposed two digits in my account number. 🤦♀️ The IRS eventually sent me a paper check, but that took forever.

Direct deposit failures often trigger automatic paper check issuance within 14-21 business days according to Internal Revenue Manual 21.4.1. However, this timeframe can be extended during peak processing periods, which we are currently experiencing. Bank rejection protocols may not immediately notify the taxpayer.

Have you verified your deposit information is correct on your return? According to IRS Publication 2043, direct deposits typically process within 1-5 business days of the scheduled date. However, banking holidays and weekends can extend this timeline. Did you receive any correspondence from the IRS regarding potential issues with your banking information?

I was in the same boat with my 2/26 deposit date. After checking the IRS2Go app and WMR tool daily with no updates, I finally decided to call. Spent three days trying to get through the IRS phone system with no luck. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. Found out my refund was delayed because they needed to verify something, but it's now being processed. Might be worth a try if you're worried about your refund status.

Does this Claimyr service actually work? I've tried calling the IRS multiple times and can never get through. How much did it cost? And did they actually tell you something useful or just the standard "keep waiting" response?

I had exactly the same issue with my 2/26 deposit date. Called my bank exactly 5 times to check if they were holding it. Nothing. Started a trace on March 18th (21 days after DD date). Got my refund exactly 9 days later. The trace showed my account number had a single digit error. Check your return carefully if you have a copy.

I understand how stressful this waiting game can be. Here's what I'd recommend: Step 1: Check your tax transcript at IRS.gov to confirm the 2/26 date is still showing. Step 2: Look for any TC846 code which indicates the refund was sent. Step 3: Check for any TC971 codes which might indicate an issue. I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript when I was in your situation. It decoded all the transaction codes and explained exactly what was happening with my refund. It also predicted when I'd actually receive my money, which was spot on. Might save you some headache trying to decipher all those codes yourself.

Direct deposits can fail. Banks reject them sometimes. Account numbers matter. Check your return. DD date plus 5 business days is standard wait time. After that, call IRS. Request a trace if needed. They'll tell you next steps. Keep checking WMR daily.

I believe it's actually possible that the IRS might have sent the refund to the wrong account, though this is somewhat rare. In such cases, the financial institution would typically reject the deposit, and the IRS would then issue a paper check, which could potentially take an additional 4-6 weeks to arrive, depending on current processing timelines.
