Any 2/14 Filers? Let's Track Our Refund Progress Together
I e-filed on 2/14 and was hoping we could create a thread to keep each other updated. Last year I filed around the same date and had my refund by March 10th, but this year seems different. In my home country, tax refunds took months, so I'm still amazed by the US system, but I'm getting a bit anxious waiting. Anyone else file on Valentine's Day? What's your current status? WMR updates? Transcript changes? Let's help each other track progress! ❤️

I filed 2/14 too and my WMR still shows the first bar with "Return Received." According to the IRS2Go app and the refund status checker on IRS.gov, returns are taking longer than the standard 21 days this year. From what I've seen on Twitter and Facebook tax groups, many 2/14 filers are in the same boat. Keep checking your transcript daily - that's usually where you'll see movement before WMR updates.

Thx for the info! Any idea why it's taking longer this yr? My transcript still says N/A for 2024 return. Is that normal at this point?

Filed exactly on 2/14 too. My 846 code finally appeared yesterday after nothing for weeks. What worked for me was calling the IRS - but I was getting nowhere with the regular number until I tried Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). They connected me to an actual IRS agent in about 15 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The agent confirmed my return was just stuck in normal processing and pushed it through. DD scheduled for next week now!

Per IRS Publication 5136, most returns should process within 21 days without requiring intervention. A third-party service to reach the IRS seems unnecessary when patience would likely yield the same result.

How exactly does this work? • Do they just connect you to regular IRS agents? • What information did you need to provide? • How much did it cost? • Was it worth it compared to just waiting?

I'm curious about this service - did the IRS agent mention anything about why your return was stuck? Was there a specific issue they fixed or did they just move it along in the queue?

Thank you for sharing this. Very helpful. I've been trying to reach someone for days. Will look into this option. Appreciate the tip.

I'm a 2/14 filer as well and I'm wondering if anyone here claimed certain credits that might be delaying their returns? From what I understand, returns with EITC or Child Tax Credit might be held longer for additional verification. Has anyone possibly received any CP05 notices requesting additional information?

OMG I'm so relieved to find this thread! Filed 2/14 and was getting SO STRESSED about the lack of updates! I finally got movement yesterday after using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It showed me exactly what all those weird codes meant and predicted I'll get my refund next Tuesday! It even explained that the 570 code I was freaking out about was just a temporary hold while they verified something. Such a weight off my shoulders! 😅

I may have found a different approach that might help some of you. After filing on 2/14, I wasn't seeing any updates, so I created an account on the IRS website to view my tax transcripts directly. It seems that the transcript updates before the WMR tool in many cases. If you're not seeing anything yet, it might be worth checking your transcript for cycle codes that could indicate when your return will be processed.

I filed exactly on February 14th at 9:37am. My transcript updated on March 1st with a 570 code, then on March 8th it changed to 571 (release of hold) and 846 (refund issued) with a direct deposit date of March 15th. The money hit my account this morning, exactly on schedule. From what I've seen in previous years, the IRS processes returns in batches based on when they were received, so all of us 2/14 filers should be in roughly the same batch.

My transcript shows processing date of March 18th (cycle code 20241105) with a 570 code dated March 15th. Based on your experience, how many days exactly between your 570 and 571 codes? Trying to calculate when I might see movement.

This is really helpful information! In previous years, I've noticed similar patterns with batch processing. Did you receive any notices or have to verify your identity at any point during the process?

Just to clarify for everyone - the 21-day processing guideline is just that, a guideline. The IRS is not obligated to process returns within that timeframe. Many factors can extend processing time including verification of credits, identity verification requirements, and staffing limitations. If you need your refund for immediate expenses, you might want to adjust your withholding for next year to prevent being in this situation again.
