Need EDD escalation phone number for claim stuck in processing for 6 weeks
I'm at my wit's end with this claim! Been waiting 6 weeks and still shows as 'processing' with no updates. Regular EDD reps keep telling me different things every time I call. One says wait, another says there's a flag on my account, another says everything looks fine. I've certified on time every 2 weeks but haven't received a single payment. Is there a special phone number for escalated concerns or supervisor line I can call? I need to speak with someone who can actually look at my claim and tell me what's going on. Rent is due next week and I'm getting desperate.

Unfortunately, there's no direct escalation number you can call. The standard customer service line (1-800-300-5616) is your only option through regular channels. However, when you call, you can specifically request to speak with a Tier 2 representative who has more authority to resolve complex issues. Just be aware that getting through to anyone is extremely difficult right now with high call volumes.

•Thanks for the info. I've been calling that number for weeks but can never get through - always get the 'maximum callers reached' message and then it hangs up on me. Even when I try calling right when they open. So frustrating!

•I've tried calling at 8:01am almost every day this week. Still get the same message. Will try the 2:55pm trick tomorrow though, thanks.

I was in a similar situation and found Claimyr (claimyr.com) to be a real game-changer. It's a service that helps you bypass the busy signals and connects you directly with an EDD rep. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km that shows how it works. I was skeptical at first, but after weeks of failed attempts, I decided to try it and got connected to an actual tier 2 representative who could see the exact issue with my claim and fixed it that day. Worth checking out if you're desperate.

•is this legit?? sounds like a scam to me. why would u need to pay someone to call EDD?

•It's definitely legit. They don't call EDD for you - they use their system to navigate EDD's phone tree and get you in the queue, then connect you directly. You still talk to EDD yourself. I was hesitant too but after wasting hours redialing for weeks, it was worth it to me.

NO DIRECT ESCALATION NUMBER EXISTS!!!! This is BY DESIGN. They WANT it to be hard to reach them. I've been dealing with EDD for THREE CLAIMS over 5 YEARS and they deliberately make it impossible to get help. The whole system is designed to frustrate people into giving up so they don't have to pay benefits!!!! Even if you get through, half the reps don't know what they're talking about and give WRONG INFORMATION!!!

•While the system is definitely frustrating, I don't think it's an intentional conspiracy. The EDD is just severely understaffed and working with outdated technology. I've found that being persistent and extremely polite (even when frustrated) helps when you finally get through to someone.

have u tried the online message center in UI Online? sometimes thats faster than calling. U can send a specific question about ur claim status and sometimes they respond in a few days

•I've sent 4 messages through the UI Online contact system over the past month. Got one generic response saying they're reviewing my claim and to keep certifying. No actual help or explanation for the delay.

In my experience with a delayed claim, the issue was that I needed to complete an eligibility interview but the notification got lost somewhere in the system. When I finally reached a representative, they scheduled me for an interview right away. Ask specifically if you need an eligibility interview or if there's any additional information they need from you. Also, try calling your local Assembly Member's office. They have EDD liaisons who can sometimes help push claims through when there are unreasonable delays. This worked for my brother-in-law when his claim was stuck for almost 8 weeks.

•Thank you! I hadn't thought about contacting my Assembly Member. I'll look up their office information right now. And I'll specifically ask about an eligibility interview when I finally get through to someone.

Just wanted to add one important tip: make sure you're keeping detailed records of every interaction with EDD. Write down the date and time of each call attempt, the names of representatives you speak with, and what they tell you. If you end up needing to escalate through your Assembly Member or file an appeal later, this documentation will be extremely helpful.

•That's excellent advice. I have a general log but haven't been recording names. I'll start doing that immediately. Thanks!

Following up - were you able to contact your Assembly Member or get through to EDD? Any progress with your claim?

•Thanks for checking back! I was finally able to get through to EDD after using the Claimyr service someone recommended above. Turns out there was an identity verification issue that wasn't showing up in my UI Online account. The rep was able to clear it on the spot, and I should be receiving my backpay within 5-7 days. Such a relief! I also contacted my Assembly Member's office and they were preparing to help, but thankfully I got it resolved before needing their assistance.
