Just got caught in the Tesla mass layoff wave last month. Monday morning, boom - no more job after 9 years with the company. HR told me my official termination date is June 14th and I'll keep receiving my regular salary until then as severance. I'm confused about when I should file for unemployment benefits - should I apply now since I'm already not working, or wait until June 14th when my severance payments stop? I GOT LAID OFF FROM TESLA IN 2023!!! The HR people told me I could file right away even with severance but GUESS WHAT??
