Can I get EDD benefits if fired while COVID positive? Employer claims attendance issues

Just got let go from my warehouse job last week after testing positive for COVID. My supervisor said I was being terminated due to 'excessive absences' but most of those were actually COVID-related! I had documentation from my doctor that I tested positive and needed to isolate for 10 days. I've worked there for almost 2 years with no issues before this.\n\nWhen I applied for unemployment, I honestly answered that I was fired (not laid off). Now I'm worried this will disqualify me. The EDD website says misconduct can make you ineligible, but is getting COVID considered misconduct? Has anyone been in a similar situation? THEY CANNOT FIRE YOU FOR HAVING COVID!!! This is illegal discrimination and you should file a complaint with the labor board ASAP!!! I got fired during covid too and got both unemployment AND a settlement from my employer for wrongful termination!!

If you're still sick with COVID, you wouldn't be eligible for UI benefits for those weeks, but might qualify for State Disability Insurance (SDI) instead.
