Workers comp payment timeframe? How long did you wait for your first check?
I got hurt at work and filed for workers comp. Now I'm waiting to get paid but I have no idea how long it's gonna take. Anyone know what the typical timeframe is for getting workers comp payments? I'm starting to worry about bills piling up while I wait.

Ugh, sorry you're dealing with this. Workers comp can be such a pain. In my experience, it took about 3-4 weeks to get my first payment after everything was approved. But I've heard it can vary a lot depending on your situation and employer.

ā¢3-4 weeks?? š© That's gonna be rough. Did you have any issues with bills during that time? I'm worried about falling behind on rent.

ā¢Yeah it was tight for sure. I had to dip into savings and put some stuff on credit cards. Definitely not ideal. Maybe see if you can get any bills deferred? Some companies will work with you if you explain the situation.

The timeframe can vary a lot depending on your specific case and how quickly your employer and their insurance company process everything. Here are some general guidelines: ⢠Initial report of injury to first payment: Usually 14-28 days ⢠Ongoing payments: Every 2 weeks typically ⢠Settlement payments: Can take months to negotiate Key factors that affect timing: - Severity of injury - Disputed claims take longer - Employer's efficiency in filing paperwork - Insurance company's workload Best thing you can do is stay on top of all paperwork and follow up regularly. Don't be afraid to be persistent! And document EVERYTHING.

ā¢This is great advice. I'd add that getting a workers comp attorney can sometimes speed things up too. They know how to navigate the system.

pro tip: if u need to talk to someone at the workers comp office, I found this site (claimyr.com) that has a calling tool. it dials the phone menu, waits on hold, then sends the call to ur phone when a real person picks up. costs like $20 but saved me hours of hold time. here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it legit worked for me. Saved me from going crazy listening to that hold music for hours lol. But yeah, it sucks we even need services like this.

have you tried calling your claims adjuster? sometimes they can give you a more specific timeline for your case

Bruh workers comp is the WORST. I swear they make it complicated on purpose so people just give up. Took me like 2 months to see a dime. Good luck š

Quick question - did you file the claim yourself or did your employer do it? Sometimes if the employer drags their feet it can slow everything down.

ā¢My boss said they filed it, but now I'm wondering if I should double check on that. Thanks for bringing this up!

Not sure about your state, but where I am, theres a website where you can check the status of your claim. Might be worth looking into if you havent already
