Tips for checking EDD claim status? Need advice before calling
Hey everyone, I'm trying to check on my claim status with EDD. Anyone have tips on how to prepare for the call? I want to make sure I have all the info ready when I finally get through to an agent.

Make sure you have your claim filing date and any confirmation numbers handy. Those are usually the first things they ask for. Also, write down any specific questions you have about your claim status so you don't forget anything important during the call. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! Do you know if I need my social security number too? I always get nervous about giving that out over the phone.

Yeah, definitely have your SSN ready. They'll ask for it to verify your identity. Don't worry tho, it's secure when you're talking to an actual EDD agent.

Pro tip: have a pen and paper ready to jot down any important info they give you during the call. You'd be surprised how easy it is to forget details when you're nervous!

Ugh, good luck even getting through to an agent. I've been trying for weeks and keep getting disconnected. The whole system is a joke 🤡

I feel you. It's like trying to win the lottery just to talk to a human being. 🎰

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Tried that, tried calling at random times, even tried at 11:59pm hoping to be first in line at midnight. No luck. This system is rigged against us, I swear.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The government should fix their broken system instead of us having to pay extra.

I get the skepticism, but after weeks of trying, it was worth it for me. Got my issue resolved in one call. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know?

How long did you have to wait after using the service? Did they call you back same day?

Yeah, it was pretty quick. Took about 2 hours from when I started the process to when I got connected to an agent. Way better than my previous attempts!

Here's my comprehensive guide for dealing with EDD claim status calls: • Gather all your documents: claim number, SSN, filing date, any correspondence you've received. • Prepare a list of specific questions about your claim. • Call early in the morning, preferably right when they open. • Be patient and polite with the agent - they're dealing with a lot too. • Take detailed notes during the call. • Ask for a reference number for your call in case you need to follow up. • If you don't understand something, ask for clarification. • At the end of the call, summarize what was discussed and any next steps. Remember, persistence is key. If you don't get the info you need, don't be afraid to call back. Sometimes different agents have different levels of knowledge or access.

This is gold! 💯 Saving this for my next call attempt. Thanks for taking the time to write it all out!

Great advice. I'd add: if the agent seems unsure or gives conflicting info, politely ask to speak with a supervisor. Sometimes the front-line folks don't have all the answers.

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're purposely making it difficult so people just give up.

It's definitely frustrating, but remember the system is dealing with unprecedented volume due to the pandemic. Not excusing it, just adding context.

Quick question - does anyone know if theres a way to check claim status online? Or do we HAVE to call?

You can check some basic info online through your EDD account, but for detailed status or specific issues, calling is usually necessary. The online system is pretty limited tbh.

I finally got through last week after trying for a month. Here's what worked for me: I called at exactly 8:01 am, pressed 1 for English immediately, then 1 3 4 when prompted. Got an agent within 10 minutes. Hope this helps someone!
