Need help with SDI continued disability paperwork - tips?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with some paperwork issues for my continued disability. Has anyone gone through this process recently? Any tips or advice on how to make sure everything goes smoothly? I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the forms and requirements.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I just went through this nightmare last month. Make sure you have ALL your medical records in order. They'll ask for everything under the sun. š Also, don't forget to get your doctor to fill out that annoying capacity form. It's like they want us to jump through hoops while we're already struggling!

Wait, your doctor charged you? I thought that was illegal. Maybe check with the disability office about that?

I found a method to get someone on the phone when I was dealing with this. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Sometimes you gotta pay to play š¤·āāļø

Here's my comprehensive guide for dealing with continued disability paperwork: ā¢ Start early! These things always take longer than you think ā¢ Keep a folder with ALL your medical records, sorted by date ā¢ Make copies of EVERYTHING you send them ā¢ Set reminders for all deadlines ā¢ If possible, hand-deliver documents to your local office and get a receipt ā¢ Follow up regularly via phone or email (document all communication) ā¢ Join support groups or forums for people with your specific disability ā¢ Consider hiring an advocate if things get too complicated Remember, persistence is key. Don't let the bureaucracy wear you down!

Great list! I'd add: take notes during every phone call, including the name of who you spoke to. It's saved my butt more than once.

Has anyone else noticed that the forms changed recently? I swear they're asking for different info now and it's confusing af

YES! I thought I was going crazy. They added some new questions about 'functional capacity' or something. Like, isn't that what the whole form is about?? š

Pro tip: if ur doctor uses MyChart or a similar system, you can usually download all ur records yourself for free. Saves time and money!

I've been on disability for 3 years now and honestly, it doesn't get easier. Every time I have to do the paperwork, I get anxiety. Just remember to breathe and take it one step at a time. You got this! ā¤ļø
