Need help getting back on disability - tips for reapplying?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get back on disability benefits but I'm not sure where to start. Has anyone gone through this process recently? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated. I'm feeling pretty lost and could use some guidance.

Ashley Simian

I've been through this recently. It can be a real pain, but here's what I did: • First, gather all your medical records. Make sure they're up to date and clearly show your condition. • Contact your doctor and ask them to write a detailed report about your disability and how it affects your ability to work. • Fill out the application form carefully. Be thorough and honest about your condition. • If you were previously on disability, explain why you need to be reinstated. • Be prepared for a long wait. The process can take months. • If you get denied, don't give up! Appeal the decision. Hope this helps. Good luck!

This is great advice! I'd add: keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit. The system is a mess and they lose stuff all the time.

Yep, documentation is key. I learned that the hard way 😭

Have you tried contacting a disability advocate? They can be super helpful in navigating the system and improving your chances of approval.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

How long did it take to get through?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. The service called me when an agent picked up.

Pro tip: if you can, apply online. It's usually faster than paper applications and you can save your progress as you go.

Hey OP, what kind of disability are you dealing with? Some conditions can be trickier to get approved than others.

I have a chronic back condition that makes it impossible for me to sit or stand for long periods. It's been getting worse over the past year.

Oof, back issues can be tough. Make sure you have really detailed imaging (MRIs, X-rays) to back up your claim. Pun intended 😉

Dont forget to check if your state has any additional disability programs! Sometimes you can get help from both federal and state levels.

I swear, dealing with disability benefits is a full-time job in itself. And they wonder why we need the support! 🙄

Ain't that the truth. It's like they're testing our disability by seeing if we can handle all this bureaucracy 😂

Has anyone tried those disability claim services that help you file? Are they worth it or just a waste of money?

I used one and it was actually pretty helpful. They knew all the right things to say on the forms.

Be careful with those. Some are scams. Do your research before paying anyone!
