If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Ava Kim

wait what??? you can transfer CalFresh to another account????? i never heard of this before????

0 coins

This is incorrect information. You cannot transfer CalFresh benefits to another account - they can only be used via the EBT card for eligible food purchases. The commenter may be confusing CalFresh with CalWORKs cash benefits, which can be transferred to a personal bank account in California.

UPDATE: I wanted to follow everyone's advice here. I filed the CF 303 form online through BenefitsCal and used Claimyr to get through to a real person at my county office. The worker was super helpful and processed an emergency replacement for 60% of my benefits that will be available when my new card arrives in a few days. The rest will be replaced after the investigation, which she said typically takes 10 business days. Thank you all for your help! This forum literally saved my family from going hungry.

That's amazing news! So glad you got the emergency replacement. Make sure to check your mail carefully for the new card - they come in very plain envelopes that can look like junk mail.

I applied for CalFresh back in January and just to let you know, they're giving higher benefits now in 2025 because they adjusted for inflation. The maximum for a household of 3 (like you and your kids) is around $750/month now I think? My sister gets almost that much for her and her two kids. But it really depends on your income and expenses. Make sure you tell them about your rent, utilities, childcare costs if you have any - all that can help increase your benefit amount because they're deductions from your income calculation.

0 coins

That would be amazing if we qualified for that much. I'm paying $2300 for rent alone, plus utilities, so every bit helps. I'll make sure to include all those expenses. Thanks for the tip about childcare - I pay my neighbor to watch the kids after school, but it's cash. Can I still count that?

0 coins

Yes, you can definitely claim cash childcare payments as an expense! Just be prepared to provide a written statement from your childcare provider (your neighbor) that includes: - Their name and contact information - How much you pay them per week/month - Which children they care for and when It doesn't need to be anything fancy - just a signed note with this info. This expense can significantly increase your benefit amount since childcare is fully deductible for CalFresh calculations when it's necessary for work or school. Also, with rent that high, make sure you're claiming all utilities separately (even if some are included in rent). There's a standard utility allowance that can help increase benefits too.

That's perfect! I'll ask my neighbor to write something up. I really appreciate everyone's help. I'm going to start the application tonight and hopefully get this figured out soon. You've all made this seem much less overwhelming than I thought it would be!

I work with CalFresh recipients regularly, and there's an important distinction in your case. When you received the denial letter citing "no service error," that's their standard response for first-level denials of EBT theft. You need to request a formal Administrative Hearing through your county office within 90 days of receiving that denial. Bring documentation showing: 1. Your whereabouts during the fraudulent transactions (receipts, work timesheet, etc) 2. The police report 3. Any transaction history showing the suspicious pattern Also, request that your caseworker document this as "electronic benefit theft" rather than general card misuse. The state has been dealing with increased skimming cases and has special protocols for these situations. Don't accept the first denial - the appeal process has a much higher success rate.

This is incredibly helpful information. I can prove I was at work during some of those transactions! I'll gather all those documents and request the Administrative Hearing right away. Thank you for explaining the process so clearly.

One more thing - while you're fighting this, immediately request expedited emergency CalFresh benefits. Explain that you have less than $150 in income available for food and less than $100 in liquid resources. This should get you emergency benefits within 3 days. This won't replace what was stolen, but it can help bridge the gap while you appeal the fraud case. Make sure to mention any children in the household as that strengthens your emergency request.

Update: I took everyone's advice and went in person to my county office today. I specifically requested an Administrative Hearing for electronic benefit theft and brought my work schedule proving I couldn't have made those purchases. I also applied for emergency benefits like you suggested. The worker I spoke with was actually helpful and said several people have reported similar issues recently. She thinks it might be part of a larger skimming operation they're investigating. She expedited my appeal and said I should have emergency benefits by Friday. Thank you all for the support and specific advice - it made a huge difference in how I approached this!

This totally sucks and i know exactly how u feel!!! When I needed housing help I applied for everything but got nowhere until I connected with a family advocate at my local WIC office. They had connections with housing resources I didn't even know existed! Do you go to WIC for your little one? If so ask them about housing resources next time you're there. Also try local Head Start programs - sometimes they have housing connections for families with young kids.

this is good advice, WIC helped my cousin find housing last year! they know all kinds of resources

Based on your situation, here's a step-by-step approach: 1. Call your county's social services agency immediately (same place that handles your CalFresh) and ask about emergency housing assistance programs 2. Apply for CalWORKs if you're eligible - this opens the door to their Housing Support Program 3. Visit your local Housing Authority in person if possible - sometimes there are emergency vouchers that aren't advertised online 4. Contact local family resource centers and ask about their housing navigation services 5. Check if your county has a Homeless Prevention Program that helps families before they lose housing Don't wait - start all these processes simultaneously since housing programs often have waits. And make sure to emphasize that you have a 1-year-old and a specific move-out deadline when speaking with agencies.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll start with these steps tomorrow morning. I didn't realize there were so many different programs to try. Fingers crossed one of them can help us before we have to move out.

To add some additional resources since emergency allotments aren't returning: 1. Check with local food banks - many have increased their distribution since regular SNAP benefits returned to normal levels 2. If you have children in school, make sure they're signed up for free/reduced school meals 3. Look into WIC if you have children under 5 or are pregnant/breastfeeding 4. Some counties have General Assistance programs with food vouchers 5. Call 211 for additional food resources in your area Also, be sure your SAR7 and recertification forms are submitted on time to avoid any gaps in your regular benefits.

0 coins

Thanks for mentioning WIC - I always thought you couldn't get both WIC and CalFresh at the same time! Will definitely look into that for my 3-year-old.

0 coins

Thank you for these resources! I'll definitely call 211 and see what food banks are in my area.

I just had my CalFresh recertification interview yesterday and specifically asked about any additional benefits or emergency allotments. The worker confirmed they ended years ago and there are no plans to bring them back for November or anytime soon. She did mention that they can sometimes provide one-time emergency benefits in very specific crisis situations (like if your home burned down or you had to evacuate due to a natural disaster), but nothing related to general inflation or food costs.

0 coins

did they say anything about the SNAP 2.0 program i keep hearing rumors about? supposedly its going to increase benefits by like 30% next year

0 coins

No, they didn't mention anything called SNAP 2.0. I asked specifically about any upcoming increases and they only mentioned the regular annual cost of living adjustment that already happened in October.
