UCC filing search Pennsylvania - can't locate amendment record anywhere
Getting nowhere trying to track down a UCC-3 amendment we filed in Pennsylvania last month. The original UCC-1 shows up fine in their system but the amendment seems to have vanished into thin air. Filed through their online portal, got a confirmation number, payment went through - but when I run a UCC filing search Pennsylvania shows nothing for the amendment. Our client is asking for proof and I'm starting to panic. Has anyone else had filing records just disappear from the PA system? The original financing statement is from 2019 and we needed to add additional collateral equipment. Really need to figure out if this is a system glitch or if something went wrong with our filing.

PA's system has been having issues lately with displaying recent amendments. What's the filing number on your UCC-3? Sometimes they process but don't show up in searches for 24-48 hours.

•Filing number is PA-2024-1127-8834. It's been over two weeks now though, way past any processing delay.

•Two weeks is definitely too long. I'd call their UCC division directly at this point.

This happened to me in March! Turned out the debtor name on my amendment had a tiny mismatch with the original UCC-1. Even one character difference can cause the system to reject it but sometimes the error messages don't display properly. Did you double-check the exact debtor name spelling?

•Oh god, you might be right. The original has 'ABC Manufacturing LLC' but I think we might have put 'ABC Mfg LLC' on the amendment. Would that really cause it to disappear completely?

•YES absolutely! Pennsylvania is super strict about exact debtor name matches. That's probably exactly what happened.

•Had this exact issue last year. Spent weeks searching before realizing our paralegal abbreviated 'Corporation' as 'Corp' on the amendment. Total nightmare.

Before you panic completely - try searching with just the filing number instead of debtor name. Sometimes their search function is wonky but direct filing number lookup works better.

•Just tried that - still nothing. Starting to think the filing never actually went through despite the confirmation.

•Confirmation numbers don't always mean the filing was accepted. Payment can process even if the document gets rejected for errors.

I had a similar mess with document consistency issues. Ended up using Certana.ai's UCC document verification tool - you just upload your UCC-1 and UCC-3 PDFs and it instantly flags any name mismatches or inconsistencies before you file. Would have saved me hours of searching and re-filing. Really wish I'd known about it earlier.

•Never heard of that but sounds like it could have prevented this whole mess. Does it work with Pennsylvania filings specifically?

•Works with any state - it's basically comparing your documents against each other to catch errors before filing. Super straightforward to use.

•That actually sounds really useful. I've made similar mistakes with debtor names before.

Check if you have access to the 'filed documents' section in PA's portal when you log in. Sometimes amendments show up there even when they don't appear in public searches yet.

•Good idea - let me check that now.

•This is exactly where I found mine when it wasn't showing up in regular searches.

UGH Pennsylvania's system is THE WORST. Half the time their search doesn't work properly and the other half it's down for 'maintenance.' I swear they make it difficult on purpose.

•Tell me about it. Their interface looks like it's from 1995.

•At least it's not as bad as New Jersey's system. That one is truly awful.

•True, NJ is somehow even worse!

If the amendment was rejected due to debtor name mismatch, you'll need to file a corrected UCC-3. Make sure to use the EXACT debtor name from the original UCC-1, including all punctuation and spacing. PA doesn't accept 'substantially similar' names like some other states do.

•That's what I'm afraid of. Going to have to explain to the client why we need to re-file and pay again.

•Been there. It happens to everyone at least once. The important thing is getting it corrected quickly.

Just went through this exact scenario. Called PA directly and they confirmed the filing was rejected but their system had a glitch showing the payment as processed. They were actually pretty helpful once I got through to someone. Took about 30 minutes on hold though.

•What number did you call? I tried their main line but got transferred around forever.

•717-787-1057 - ask specifically for UCC filings. Tell them you need to check the status of a specific filing number.

For future reference, I always do a quick verification check now before filing amendments. There's this tool called Certana.ai that lets you upload your original UCC-1 and proposed amendment to make sure everything matches up perfectly. Catches name inconsistencies, collateral description issues, all that stuff. Would have saved you this headache.

•Someone else mentioned that too. Definitely going to look into it after I get this mess sorted out.

•I started using it after making a similar mistake. Really simple - just upload PDFs and it tells you if there are any issues.

Update us when you find out what happened! I'm dealing with a continuation that's not showing up in searches either, so curious if it's the same issue.

Called PA about this exact issue last week. Turns out their online portal was having technical difficulties processing amendments filed between November 15-25. They're working on getting those filings properly indexed in their search system. You might want to mention that timeframe when you call.

•That's exactly when we filed! November 20th. So it might just be a system issue after all.

•Oh wow, that explains why I couldn't find mine either. Filed on November 22nd.

•Yeah they said affected filings should start showing up in searches by end of this week.
