Can't find my SAI score in FAFSA 2024-2025 - no award messages appearing

I'm totally stuck trying to find my Student Aid Index (SAI) for the 2024-2025 FAFSA. My application shows as 'processed' on studentaid.gov but I haven't received ANY award messages from grants I was expecting. Last year I qualified for some aid but now I'm getting worried that maybe my SAI is too high and I'm not eligible anymore? Can anyone help me figure out where to find my actual SAI number on the website? I've clicked through every tab I can find but don't see it anywhere! Is this happening to anyone else with the new FAFSA system?

The new FAFSA system is a mess! Your SAI should be on your Student Aid Report (SAR). Log into studentaid.gov, go to "My Documents" and look for your SAR. It should be there as a PDF you can download. Check near the top of the document.

Thanks for responding! I checked My Documents but don't see any SAR document available for download yet. Just older ones from previous years. Does this mean they're still processing something even though it says "processed"?

It's so frustrating! Have you tried calling the Federal Student Aid office? I'm worried something is wrong with our applications.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA has significant changes in how SAI is calculated and displayed. There are two important things to understand: 1. Your SAI isn't displayed directly on the studentaid.gov dashboard anymore. You need to access your Student Aid Report (SAR) to see it. If your SAR isn't available yet, that could mean they're still finalizing some aspects of your application even though it shows as "processed". 2. There's a delay between FAFSA processing and when colleges receive your information. After that, colleges need time to prepare award packages. This year, many schools are behind schedule due to the FAFSA simplification changes. My recommendation: Click on "Need Help" on studentaid.gov, then select "Contact Us" to call Federal Student Aid directly. Ask them to confirm your SAI and verify if your information has been sent to your selected schools.

Thank you so much for explaining this! I'll try calling them tomorrow. It's weird that they'd say it's processed when it's actually not fully done yet. Really appreciate the detailed explanation.

I work in a college financial aid office, and we're seeing this issue a lot. The "processed" status can be misleading - it means your basic application was processed, but there might still be issues with your SAI calculation or data transmission to schools. Some things to check: 1. Look at your "FAFSA status" page - does it say "Processed Successfully" or something else? 2. Check if there are any action items or to-dos listed 3. Verify your schools list is correct If everything looks good but you still can't see your SAI, there's likely a backend issue. You won't get award messages until your chosen schools receive your complete FAFSA data, which includes your calculated SAI.

This is why the whole system is BROKEN!! How are we supposed to make college decisions when we can't even see our own financial information?! I've been trying for MONTHS and keep getting different answers from everyone I talk to. Some schools say they have my info, others say they don't. The FAFSA website says one thing, the schools say another. It's RIDICULOUS!

I had the same problem last month and it was so frustrating! I tried calling the FSA helpline every day for a week but couldn't get through - always disconnected after waiting on hold forever. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get a callback from a FAFSA agent without waiting on hold. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ The agent explained that my application was flagged for income verification even though it said "processed" online. That's why my SAI wasn't showing up and schools weren't getting my complete information. They helped me submit the verification documents right there on the call. Two days later my SAR with my SAI showed up in my account!

does that service really work? seems sketchy to me... did you have to pay for it?

Yes, there is a fee, but it was worth it to me after wasting hours trying to get through. They don't answer FAFSA questions themselves - they just get you connected to an actual FSA agent without the hold time. The agent I spoke with was super helpful and got everything fixed.

Just checked all my folders including spam - nothing there from FAFSA except the confirmation email when I first submitted. Good suggestion though!

One more thing to check - sometimes the SAI isn't explicitly labeled as "SAI" in the Student Aid Report. Look for a number near the "Expected Family Contribution" or "EFC" section. For the 2024-2025 FAFSA, they've replaced EFC with SAI, but some documents might still reference the old terminology or show both. The number should be in a format like 00000 to 99999.

That's really helpful to know! I'll definitely look for that when I can access my SAR. I think I need to call them first though since I can't even see the current SAR in my account yet. Thanks again!

Anyone else notice that schools seem SUPER behind on sending award letters this year? I got my SAI like 3 weeks ago but none of my schools have sent me any award packages yet. When I called one school they said they're still catching up because of all the FAFSA delays.

This is accurate. Most schools are 4-6 weeks behind their normal financial aid timeline this year due to the FAFSA Simplification Act implementation delays. The Department of Education had to phase in the release of FAFSA data to schools, so many institutions only recently received complete applicant information. If you're making college decisions soon, I recommend contacting schools directly to request estimated aid packages based on your SAI.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at FSA! Turns out my application has an "unresolved comment code" that wasn't visible to me on the website. They said I need to submit additional verification of my parents' tax information even though we used the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. They're sending me an email with instructions. The agent said this is why my SAI isn't showing up yet - the calculation is basically on hold until this verification is completed. Just wanted to update in case anyone else has the same issue!

Thanks for the update! This is really helpful to know. I'm having the exact same issue - my FAFSA shows "processed" but no SAR available and no SAI visible anywhere. I used the IRS Data Retrieval Tool too, so maybe I have the same verification problem. Did they give you a timeline for how long it takes once you submit the additional verification documents? I'm getting stressed about college decision deadlines coming up.
