One additional suggestion - if you continue having trouble reaching someone at Federal Student Aid, submit a formal case through the FSA Feedback Center (studentaid.gov/feedback-center/). This creates an official case that requires resolution and often gets faster attention than calling. Make sure to mark it as "urgent" and specifically mention that classes have started and financial penalties are being applied. This routes the case to their escalation team.
Update: I finally got through to someone at Federal Student Aid using that Claimyr service someone suggested. It actually worked! The agent found my son's paper application stuck in a verification queue even though we weren't selected for verification. They're expediting it now and said it should be processed within 5-7 business days. The financial aid office also agreed to put a hold on late fees after I showed them the case number. Thank you all for your advice - this community has been so helpful!
Great news! Make sure to follow up if you don't see movement in the system within 7 days. Sometimes "expediting" can still take longer than they promise. Also, keep that case number handy - you might need it again if there are any issues with the Pell Grant disbursement.
UPDATE: I ended up taking everyone's advice - disabled my pop-up blocker, cleared my cache, and tried again later at night. It finally worked! The import took less than 3 minutes. Thanks to everyone who helped! For anyone else having this issue, try during off-peak hours and check your browser settings!
same thing happend to my roomate last semester!!!! he's from colombia and fafsa was a NIGHTMARE for him. his finacial aid didnt come through until 3 weeks after classes started but the school gave him some kind of emergency loan to cover until then. ask ur school about emergency funding options!!!!
Update: Just checked the FSA website and today's maintenance is scheduled to end at midnight Eastern time. So you should be able to make corrections tomorrow. However, I still recommend pursuing the school waiver as your fastest option, as FAFSA corrections are taking 7-10 days minimum to process right now.
Has anyone actually received their aid package yet? We submitted in January, got our SAI score three weeks ago, but still no actual aid package from any of the schools. My son's decision deadline is May 1st and we're completely in the dark!
i feel u my scholarship got messed up cuz of fafsa too. ended up having to go to state school instead of private school i wanted. this whole system is trash

UPDATE: I finally called my school's financial aid office this morning! They told me they're processing applications in the order received and mine should be ready within the next 7-10 days. They also said they're aware of the May 1st deadline and are prioritizing packages for undecided students. The woman I spoke with was actually super helpful and took my name down to flag my application for priority processing since I mentioned I'm waiting on the package to make my decision. Thanks everyone for the advice to call directly!

•That's excellent news! I'm glad you were able to get through and receive some clarity on the timeline. The fact that they're prioritizing undecided students is very helpful. Make sure to check your student portal and email frequently, as many schools will post the package online before sending an email notification.
